The goal was to promote low-cost, high-quality, energy-efficient refrigerators tailored for weak-grid and off-grid rural areas. Through this project, we identified key regions in India to target and estimated the market size for business planning. We suggested innovative business and consumer financing models to reach last-mile consumers and highlighted financing mechanisms to help companies scale. Our research also mapped use-cases for households, micro enterprises, and smallholder farmers, and profiled existing players in the Indian market. This research aims to drive sustainable and accessible refrigeration solutions, enhancing the quality of life in rural India.
