I will be presenting a fifth in the series of 'Going Global - Working Internationally on Security Sector Reform (SSR)' this week to retiring and recently retired police officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) for the Police Rehabilitation and Retraining Trust (PRRT) here in Belfast. The Two Hour seminar attracts around 20 - 25 officers each time of various ranks and skill sets and introduces them to the 'world' of SSR. Points covered include: Explaining common terminology used, potential access points/breaking in, shaping/aligning their career/skill sets prior to retirement, CV and CV formats, 'Where to look' - searching websites/refining criteria, registering on Databases (Companies and International Org. operating in this field), available relevant online courses (UNITAR, UNODC Learning, OSCE.... etc), Long Term v Short Term (NKE V KE roles), Contracts and NDAs through to Passports and Visas, Vaccinations and Health, Insurance issues, What to expect/not expect on Deployment, HEAT courses, Country Risk Assessment websites, TAX, Myths and Facts, etc..... I highlight some individual organisations and companies (mostly from my own work experience over the past 15 years) and provide links to their websites. I also emphasise that I am NOT a recruiter and signpost them towards vacancy and application pages/databases, SPOCs. Your reporting requirements for some of your UK subsidiaries may soon change. The Government has announced the first steps it is planning to take to simply reporting for UK companies. The monetary thresholds that determine company size will be lifted by 50% and low-value, obsolete or overlapping requirements in the Directors’ Report and Directors’ Remuneration Report and Policy will be removed. The Government will consult on further changes later this year – proposed changes will include exemption for medium-sized companies from producing strategic reports. https://lnkd.in/d_KXxv5i
