Every Friday, we feature an Indiana entrepreneur's success story from our Entrepreneurship Indiana Yearbook. Here's the latest. Meet Hector Cornejo, the founder of Momax Marble & Granite. After years of battling Chicago traffic, Hector chose to bring his dream to life in Merrillville, Indiana. Since 1996, Momax has grown into a thriving full-service kitchen and bathroom design center, employing around 50 people across two locations. From custom granite and quartz countertops to stunning public projects like the waterfalls at Indiana University Northwest, Momax is a testament to the craftsmanship and dedication found right here in Indiana. With a family-oriented approach, Hector, his wife, son and daughter work tirelessly to ensure every project is a masterpiece. Momax is just one example of Indiana’s entrepreneurial spirit. Our 1st business – Opened a restaurant – closed within a year. Lesson learned: Passion alone is not enough. Our 2nd business – Opened a design consultancy – struggled and failed. Barely made a dent. Our 3rd business- Joined for a joint venture. Entire year we couldn’t make money. Failed again . Our 4th business – Started an interior design company – 8-figure revenue. - Learned to listen to customers. - Learned to build a strong team. - Learned to adapt quickly to market trends. - Learned to scale effectively. Realized that success isn't just about a great idea; it's about understanding your market and adapting. Every failure was a step closer to mastering that lesson. #business #entrepreneurship #interiordesign

Co-Founder of Munq, Adjunct Professor | Building brand stories that connect | Bridging the entrepreneurial gap for Gen Z
What I love most about Worcester is that it's an entrepreneurial city. Some recent convos with Mike Mitchell and Peter Stanton confirmed this thought I've had for a while. When it comes to our city, I feel there's a large, missing narrative. What, in fact, makes Worcester so special? Simply put: it's the people. What's unique about that? A lot of Worcester's people are self starters, small businesses, and family enterprises. To have such a large population of entrepreneurs located in one place is an incredibly rare find to me. A collective of souls that are bearing down one of the hardest career paths possible in hopes of making the world a better place. When you match that with Worcester's history, you start to notice a common thread. Whether it was Robert Goddard's first launch of the liquid propelled rocket, to the industrial revolution of the 1800s, even to the medical advances being made right in the city today....Worcester has always had an innovative culture. What makes this city alluring to people like me is not just "what" it does, by the reasons driving it in the first place. I mentioned it in a previous post, but being one degree of separation from any other entrepreneur is a huge bonus as well. What I'm most excited for is the upside that is ahead. My hope is that Munq can continue to be of service to our community and contribute to the phenomenal culture that has existed here for centuries. There are so many things in our community that we certainly should be excited about. One thing that is important to me is remembering the faces behind it all. Worcester is great because of it's entrepreneurial people. #entrepreneurship #worcester #entrepreneurialjourney

When others begin to question your abilities, it’s often a sign that it’s time to show them what you’re truly capable of – not by proving them wrong under their roof, but by stepping out and building something of your own. I’m excited to announce that I’ve taken that bold step and founded Wood Floor Experts Company, where I can fully embrace my passion and expertise in crafting high-quality wood flooring solutions. Here's to new beginnings, trusting in your vision, and believing that the best way to predict your future is to create it! #Entrepreneurship #WoodFlooring #NewBeginnings #BelieveInYourself

Through Every Thorn,A Flower Blooms- Just Like Life And Entrepreneurship Today, as I stood on my terrace, taking in the quiet growth of my plants, one stood out—the Christ of Thorns. Its long, spiky stems reach upward, crowned by vibrant red flowers. Seven years ago, it was just a half-inch sprout, fragile and unassuming. Now, it stands strong, with three thorny stems that are as much a part of its beauty as the blossoms they support. Observing this plant, I reflect on life and entrepreneurship. Both are filled with thorns and flowers. The thorns represent the struggles and obstacles we inevitably face. As entrepreneurs, we often encounter financial challenges, unexpected crises, and difficult decisions that can feel like sharp, painful setbacks. Yet, it’s these very thorns that build our resilience. Each one strengthens the stem of our journey, allowing us to grow taller and more robust. And then there are the flowers—small yet beautiful, just like the moments of success, joy, and fulfillment we experience in entrepreneurship. They remind us why we endure the difficulties. The flowers don’t come despite the thorns; they come because of them. The thorns protect the flowers, just as our challenges carve out space for our achievements. In these seven years, this plant has silently demonstrated one of the greatest truths of entrepreneurship: growth is slow, and it’s not always glamorous, but it’s worth every moment. The thorns make the flowers possible, and the blooms, in turn, give meaning to the thorns. For those of us on the entrepreneurial path, it’s easy to get discouraged by the hardships. But if we persist—if we push through the challenges, no matter how sharp or unrelenting—they shape us, just as they shape the Christ of Thorns. And in time, we too will bloom, our flowers made all the more vibrant by the thorns that got us there. Here I'm sharing a picture (PC:Ishaan Sood) of this beautiful plant from my little garden to visually remind us all that in life and entrepreneurship, the thorns are part of the journey—and the flowers are the rewards. #Entrepreneurslife #Thornsandflowers #Challengesandsuccess #Christofthorns #Innomitra
