The players of Swedish club Kalmar AIK FK all cut their hair to show their support for captain Markus Herman, who has been diagnosed with a serious form of cancer. 💖 💖 💖 💖 💖 💖 💖 💖 💖 💖 In a world that often feels divided, the players of Kalmar AIK FK have shown us the true meaning of unity and compassion. Their selfless act of shaving their heads in support of their captain, Markus Herman, is a powerful reminder of the human spirit's capacity for kindness and empathy. It is in moments like these that we witness the extraordinary power of human connection and the ability to uplift one another. We human do help each other always in the difficulty. So do us in the work, when we work, we need to work as a team, cooperating with each other to accomplish a variety of tasks. The news about Sir Chris Hoy (former track cyclist and racing driver, who is an 11-time world champion and a six-time Olympic champion) terminal prostate cancer at the young age of 48 is devastating. Prostate cancer is the the 2nd most common cause of cancer death in males in the UK, accounting for 14% of all cancer deaths (2017-2019). Although not linked to preventable risk factors, 78% of people diagnosed with prostate cancer survive the disease. One of the biggest factors that has an impact on surviving this disease is early diagnosis. All men over the age of 40 would really benefit from a prostate cancer check on regular basis. it is not painful and doesn't take much time. The gold standard for detecting prostate cancer, is a combination of Blood test (PSA) and MRI of the prostate. one of the two is not enough, you need both tests. Early diagnosis means less invasive treatment and a stronger chance of survival. If you are a male over 40, please do your research and have an informed conversation with your doctor. #sirchrishoy #prostatecancer #cancerawareness #prevention https://lnkd.in/efJwaQD2

Very moving talk about the importance of “failing forwards” with integrity, and aligning our actions with our goals and experiences that drive us.
Had the privilege of hearing Chaunté Lowe speak at #CASSpring about her remarkable journey to becoming an Olympian. Along the way, she faced numerous obstacles, including a battle with breast cancer. Chaunté made four Olympic Games appearances despite these challenges and earned multiple championship medals! 🎖️ One of the most valuable takeaways from the event was the importance of setting ambitious goals that stretch us beyond our comfort zones. We can achieve even greater heights and continue growing by embracing setbacks as learning opportunities. Chaunté’s life and career are truly fascinating. She achieved significant success, yet resilience played a crucial role in her journey. Her powerful quote resonates deeply: ‘Resilience is like a muscle—it’s a choice, and it must be exercised every day.’ This mindset allows us to bounce back from adversity and keep moving forward. Thank you, Chaunte Lowe, OLY, for sharing your inspiring story and empowering us all to overcome whatever challenges life throws our way! #Dedication #Empowerment #EzraPenland

It’s just one month to the day until the Boston marathon – terrifying! And the London marathon just a few days later – even more terrifying! I had hoped by now I’d be able to report that I was feeling fit and strong and positive. A few weeks ago I had a glimmer of hope that I might actually be able to manage a PB but the reality is it’s still a slog to get out each day, I’m really not enjoying it or feeling good and niggles in my knee, feet and hip make me increasingly worried about making the start line! This is a big challenge for me but I’m going on my biggest training run to date this weekend-3 hours! I’ve still got lots of work to do before race day so please dig deep and donate to Aktiv Against Cancer (https://lnkd.in/gq4WHyTJ) and/or SU2C, Cancer Research UK ( https://lnkd.in/ga2JE_Kp ) to help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. Some stats below courtesy of the charities so you can see how your donations are spent. Anything that you’re able to donate will really make a difference. Thank you so much for supporting me! Fiona £5 will kit out one of the ground-breaking research labs with essential chemicals needed for the day to day experiments. £35 could buy special ‘chemical scissors’ that chop up the reams of DNA in a cancer cell, to help scientists understand the disease to fight it better! £100 could pay for a cell staining kit which our scientists use to distinguish between different types of blood cells. £250 could fund two research nurses for one day. Our research nurses are clinical experts who raise awareness of our trials and support and monitor patients during their treatment. £500 could fund a research assistant for one week. Research assistants carry out vital experiments in the lab, helping us to find the next breakthrough in cancer research. £1,000 could buy a pH meter used to maintain the ideal environment for sensitive experiments that could hold clues to finding new ways to beat cancer. £2,500 could fund the PETReA trial for five days. This trial aims to help doctors decide how best to treat lymphoma.

Challenge is an amazing charity based in Melbourne that supports the families of kids with cancer. When I ran my small hospitality group in Melbourne they were one of two causes I supported I encourage you to support this particular request and, especially if you're in Australia, making them a cause you support 'strategically'. Running venues, we get requests all the time Often, lots of very small requests Like almost everything I do, I look at the 80/20 For over 12 years: • I chose 2 causes to focus 80% of my time & money • I engaged with both deeply • they became my causes I still gave small donations when requested But my businesses 'engaged' with: • Challenge, to help the families of kids with cancer • Sacred Heart Mission (5 yrs) then Vinnies (6 yrs) • Both organisations support homelessness If you're a leader wanting to make a difference I recommend using your business as a Force for Good If you're looking for a good cause then you can't better than Challenge But if you've got a cause you're passionate about or one that's in your locality Have a chat with them and see what you can do Good luck and please help this particular request ❤️ dC - inspiring a regenerative Future of Hospitality that's a thriving Force for Good PS - if you want to find a cause but aren't sure how to go about it, feel free to DM me and I'll give you a few tips how to make it happen #hospitalityleadership #worklifebalance #performanceimprovement #regenerativehospitality Future of Hospitality
Ellie Cole, Australia’s most decorated female Paralympic athlete and childhood cancer survivor, is raising money for Challenge. Not only has she earned 17 medals for Australia, but her ongoing support for Challenge is truly inspiring. Ellie is pushing herself to new heights in "I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here," currently airing on Channel 10. As Ellie's journey in the jungle continues to inspire us all, I can't help but feel a surge of pride and excitement. Having known Ellie since she was three years old and staying connected with her over the years, witnessing her remarkable journey has been nothing short of awe-inspiring. Ellie's connection with Challenge began when she bravely confronted neurosarcoma at the tender age of three, leading to the amputation of her right leg. Despite facing such adversity, Ellie's spirit remained unbreakable, serving as a beacon of positivity through every trial she faced. Over time, Ellie's bond with Challenge deepened, evolving into an ambassadorial role where she touched the lives of countless children in hospitals and tirelessly advocated for their needs. Now, as she continues to overcome each new challenge in the jungle, it's an honour that Ellie has chosen Challenge as her charity of choice, offering a potential $100,000 prize to support our cause. Keep tuning in and supporting Ellie, and don't forget to vote! #ImACelebrityAU #channel10au #10playau #TeamEllie #CelebEllie

Take a minute to read this.
Last night, In honor of the winning streak that the NC State Men’s basketball team is on through the ACC and NCAA Tournaments, My wife Jess and I watched the ESPN 30:30 documentary on NC State’s 1983 Basketball Team and their improbable run to an NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship. The title of the documentary is “Survive And Advance”, which is a nod to the now famous motto for that 1983 team during their winning streak. One of the main focus areas of the documentary is Jim Valvano, the legendary Wolfpack Coach and Founder of The V foundation for Cancer Research. Coach Valvano lost his battle with Cancer in 1993 but he left behind words of encouragement and an enthusiastic spirit that will be remembered forever. Jimmy V was an excellent public speaker. Two of my favorite quotes from him are “In every single day, in every walk of life, ordinary people accomplish extraordinary things.” And, “You have to have an enthusiasm for life. You have to have a dream, a goal. And you have to be willing to work for it.” If you have ten minutes today, I encourage you to watch his famous speech from the 1993 ESPY Awards, which he gave just one month before his death. (https://lnkd.in/e3BSwbh3) To this date, The V Foundation has raised over $353 Million Dollars for Cancer Research. In January of this year, my wife, Jess, was diagnosed with brain cancer. We have been working with the team at Duke Health since her diagnosis and have been the recipients of fantastic care and treatment while at Duke. The Duke Brain Tumor Center has a similar foundation, focused specifically on funding Brain Tumor research at Duke University. That Foundation is called ‘Angels Among Us’. Without the innovative research funded by donations to Angels Among Us, Jess’ treatments for her brain tumor would look a lot different. These donations, no matter how big or small, contribute to research that is saving the lives of thousands of people every year. The 2024 NC State Men’s Basketball team has their own motto - Why Not Us? In every single day, in every walk of life, ordinary people accomplish the extraordinary by beating cancer - so why not us? Please donate to our fight if you are able to: https://lnkd.in/eAPpjZea
