Keeping it real Many of us are familiar with what it takes to create a feature like this to meet an objective. For a clip that runs a couple of minutes, hours and even days of preparation go into the final product. I am exceptionally delighted particularly with this one as each person featured, as well as the ones not seen but made this possible are real to me. This feature holds a lot more meaning for me as it is a real reflection of hopes and aspirations fulfilled, including the ones that are work in progress. It features real relationships that are forged to bring care to the patients. If this feature brings warmth to you, it is because our colleagues from Comms lead in this, doing what they do best knowing how important a role they play in our collective success. I have also learnt that keeping things real for this generation of healthcare practitioners means a lot more effort needs to be made to systematically hasten their learning through a breadth of exposure. Job rotations, dual roles, job sharing, we'll explore whatever it takes to keep Alexians inspired. In doing so, we hope they discover more about themselves and lead themselves to where their True North points to. Relative to my generation and experience, we encounter a smaller number of young practioners today who would know their calling right at the get-go. I admire their openness to new experiences and change in order to learn and find themselves. I figure my generation has lots to offer by facilitiating these changes while preserving a safe environment (or playground) for them to learn and progress, while having fun at the same time. Together, we've discovered and learnt from each other and created many new possibilities to sustain a well-balanced way of life at work. #AlexandraHospital #OurCultureIsLearningDaringFun #OurPeopleOurLeaders #DareToBeAnAlexNurse https://lnkd.in/gtXyyASq

Medical Malpractice and Personal Injury Legal Nurse Consultant, Emergency and Trauma Care Subject Matter Expert
Once a nurse, always a nurse? A few weeks ago, I was driving my kids home from swim practice. We came up to an intersection that I've been through hundreds (if not thousands) of times. Ahead, in the intersection was a car crash between a Ford F-250 and a transfer truck. For those of you not from farming communities, a transfer truck is a truck that is loaded with harvest from an orchard or field and then transfers the produce to a processing plant. I could see my neighbor (a school teacher), who had been 2 cars ahead of us in leaving swim practice, trying to pull what looked to be an older teen out of the truck. There was fuel pouring out of the transfer truck all over the road. The front of the F-250 was all but gone. I quickly pulled off to the side of the road, told my kids to not get out under any circumstances, grabbed my small car first aid kit and ran out (don't worry, I asked my neighbor to go stay with my kids). I used bedside nursing skills that I haven't used in almost a decade and spent the next 20 minutes stabilizing his neck, applying pressure to bleeding areas, and instructing other bystanders on how to help. 20 minutes in, the ambulance finally arrived. After I reported out to the medics and got my kids home, I sat down and reflected. I reflected on how thankful I was to have the knowledge to have been able to help that kid. I reflected on how tiny my first aid kit was and how many more tools I wished I'd had with me. And I realized that no matter what pathways my career takes me down, at my core, I will always be a nurse. I will always look for ways to help those in need. As a Legal Nurse Consultant, I take complex medical records, use my super sleuthing abilities, and help attorneys uncover hidden facts in the chart and the metadata. Intrigued? Contact me to find out how this nurse can help you in your next medical malpractice or personal injury case! **picture of my new and improved first aid kit in my trunk...because I like to be prepared for everything 😉 ** #legalnurseconsultant #medicalmalpractice #personalinjury #trialattorney #onceanursealwaysanurse

In the CalMatters commentary “California faces a variety of workforce shortages. It can’t afford to cut training programs,” a registered dental assistant in San Francisco explains the benefits of investing in workforce development programs and why California should protect career training programs; from supporting underrepresented jobseekers to alleviating industries experiencing staffing shortages. With the continuation of government-funded programs uncertain, we remind #CDAmembers of available resources developed to help members staff their practices, including easy-to-implement #dentalassistant training programs, toolkits and resources to support training and onboarding. Katy Luggar-Schmit, #LPN, has spent much of her career in long-term care specialties. She's often asked why she chose the specialty, the perks of being in long-term care, and the most valuable information someone interested in this specialty should know. Taylah's back! She's got 3 great tips for starting your first day as a grad nurse on the right foot. 🤝 Introduce yourself to as many people as you can and make a point to remember their names, you never know who you will come across in your first year and beyond that you may need to help or get help from. 🧡Lower your expectations of yourself. Nobody knows everything when they first arrive at a new job, you are doing the new graduate program for a reason - to learn!Everybody knows that you are new and will not expect you to know everything! 🧑🤝🧑 Debrief at the end of the first day with someone you love and trust -a fellow graduate nurse, a partner, friend or family member. This will solidify any new things you may have learnt and will help your mind settle before going to bed for a good night's sleep, and you'll be ready to do it all again the next day. If you're thinking about applying for Healthscope's Graduate Program you've got until 17th of July https://ow.ly/VHI650StpSs #FirstDayAdvice #NewGradNurse #HealthcareCareer #MeansMore #HealthcopeCareers
