🚨 Transforming Errors into Learning Opportunities in Nuclear Medicine! 🚨 The British Nuclear Medicine Society (BNMS) has unveiled crucial guidelines for Nuclear Medicine Events and Learning Meetings (NM EALM), designed to foster learning from unforeseen events, enhance patient safety, and drive continuous improvement across departments. 💡 Key points: 🩻 Patient safety first: By identifying and analyzing errors and near-misses, we reduce future risks and improve patient care. 👨💻Multidisciplinary approach: Involving everyone—physicians, technologists, physicists, nurses, and admin staff—ensures a wide range of perspectives to improve processes across the patient pathway. 📈Non-punitive culture: Errors are seen as opportunities for growth, not blame. Anonymity is preserved, encouraging openness and learning. 🙌 Celebrate success: Positive feedback and recognition are essential for boosting team morale and improving outcomes. 📚Structured learning: Regular, structured meetings enable departments to review events, discuss lessons, and implement actionable changes for better patient care. Nuclear medicine departments, it’s time to embrace continuous learning and create a safer, more effective healthcare environment! 🙌 #PatientSafety #HealthcareInnovation #ContinuousImprovement #NuclearMedicine #Teamwork Would you implement this in your department? Let’s discuss! 👇 https://lnkd.in/e2YPt9ta

Our Department of Radiation Sciences recently welcomed Heidy Palacios, MBA, as director and assistant professor, and Charlie Downing as clinical coordinator for the Nuclear Medicine Program. Palacios and Downing admit the program may sound daunting, but they encourage prospective students to consider the field. Palacios, who herself switched majors from chemistry to nuclear medicine as an undergraduate, says helping patients is why she entered nuclear medicine. "I wanted something that, for me, was more proactive, more helping patients. I had a passion for just being one-on-one with patients. That's how I went into nuclear medicine.” Full story: https://buff.ly/3ReYFWB #VCU #VCUCHP #RadiationSciences #NuclearMedicine
