A year in review for My Tax Helper…. This is us in Feb 23 We are wrapping up the 3rd year at my tax helper and are celebrating what we thought were amazing results. We were all optimistic about where we would be this time next year and how to use our momentum to climb even higher. We had 10 very ambitious goals to… 1) Open up a new office that would fit 30 accountants to prepare for our guaranteed astronomical growth 🤣 2) Start a business coaching programme 3) Build a programme to train apprentice accountants 4) Start selling insurance 5) Start selling mortgage 6) Upgrade our practice management system, proposal system & sales CRM 7) Start hoisting quarterly client events 8) Start a podcast 9) Post 3 Instagram reels a day 10) AND on top of all that go back to school! What do you think resulted from having this many initiates? 6 months into the year we could see that our revenue was stagnating, our cash was being drained and worst of all our customer satisfaction was rapidly slipping! We had to course correct fast! We eliminated everything that wasn’t completely necessary and got back on track. Well Feb 24 rolls around and we managed to increase our revenues by more than 50% and made a slight improvement to our profit IN SPITE of all of the ludicrous objectives we had planned! But this year will be different. Our 20 objectives will be….JK… INSTEAD of becoming distracted shinney new toys we have a simple plan Do the little things just a little better and if it’s important do whatever needs to be done to make it happen… Has anyone else had any experience like this before? 😅 #BusinessStrategy #GoalSetting #RevenueGrowth #BusinessLessons

I'm gunna call it.... I was running a boundaries training last week within our beautiful accounting industry. It was a lot of fun with many key takeaways and shifts had. I'll share more about that later. There were also a few comments about how busy March is here in NZ, crazy even. My comment...."We've known the filing date for some time right?" 😶 🤔 🤣 Now of course I was being a bit tongue in cheek and you could see the realisation, that yes, we have known since becoming accountants that March 31st is FYE. So why oh why are we setting ourselves up every year for an horrendous month? No judgement, I've burnt out twice myself in my career and blamed my clients for not getting their information in, blamed my team, blamed my peers, blamed IRD, blamed software, blamed my partner, blamed the kids, blamed the cockatiel (R.I.P).......blamed the calendar, the clock, the everything.... If you are finding yourself blindingly busy right now and about to ring someone's neck, gasping for it all to be over..........well, when you come up for air next week, jump on our Business Without Burnout Masterclass. Let's make this March your last March that you wish your time away. Rego in the comments below. 👇 Crack The Code

Thank you CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen) for presenting to our organization about "Building your Career in Accounting." We loved learning the important of creating a marketplace value and the benefits of starting your career in public accounting. Our biggest takeaways were: Vanessa Tello Rubio- "I loved learning more about the firm and gaining insights about public accounting. Some values about CLA that stood out to me were being inclusive and reliability. Additionally, I loved how CLA talked about the importance of marketing yourself in the workplace. This can be through obtaining a CPA, networking, involvement in the community, and even getting connected on LinkedIn. Thank you CLA for ensuring me that the difficulties of obtaining a CPA license will be worth it in the long run." Mario Umana -"The meeting with CLA provided me with insider information on how the company works. CLA's services and work culture are amazing and it is not surprising it is constantly growing. At the meeting, they discussed the importance of networking and how valuable it can be to have those connections. The biggest takeaway for me was pursuing the CPA exam after completing a master's degree can be very beneficial. If I don't pursue a CPA, I should still get the required education hours to keep that option open." #Accounting #CLA #Tax #audit

Last week I took some time out to spend on me, to refresh and re-energise and this week I feel like I need it all again 🥴🥴 It has been a really busy week - a meeting with Craig Fearn early on and making the decision to invest in my teams wellbeing has been a pivotal move. - speaking to and taking on 4 new clients - quoting for another 2 prospective clients - Your Partnerships networking event at Roche meeting and talking to wonderful friends and business associates and picking up more enquiries - 2 year end tax planning meetings at clients premises making sure that they are doing everything they need to be tax efficient - and today a meeting with my business coach Oh and picking up another award details to follow in the next couple of weeks.🏆✨🏆✨🏆 I am so proud of what GW & Co Accountants and Business Advisers have achieved in the past couple of years, this year has been phenomenal for winning awards and being recognised for the outstanding firm we are. The last two years have also been the busiest for sorting out inherited mistakes/errors and negligence from other accountants. 😣 I bet you didn't know that you do not have to have sat any accountancy exams, or in fact be registered with an accountancy body to advertise and set up business as an accountant. -They may be cheaper, as they don't have to pay their registration and membership fees -They also don't have anyone checking that they complete their annual CPD -They are not accountable to a regulatory body if they are negligent I studied for and sat my exams to qualify as an ACCA accountant in 2001, and I have been in an accountancy practice since I left school (too many years ago to think about 😊) and I undertake my CPD every year to ensure I keep up to date. So before you entrust someone to complete your year end accounts and advise you on tax, make sure that they are qualified to undertake the task. You wouldn't ask an unqualified plumber to fit a gas boiler in your house or an unqualified mechanic to fix the brakes on your car 🤔 so why entrust your business to an unqualified/unregulated accountant? Lovely to catch up with you this week Connor Riley David Brock Warren D'Souza Jake Conway Vicky Hanks Emma Cole Elaine Tibbatts Ross Hyde DipAF Paul Venter Matt Carey Gavin Harris Steve Bridson -.
