People don’t understand just how complicated the animal testing debate really is. As a second-year student diving into the world of animal cruelty, I've realized how tangled it is. Here's some mind-blowing discoveries I got to know on animal testing that'll make your brain cells do backflips: Animal testing has contributed to groundbreaking discoveries. Did you know insulin was first isolated from dogs? About 100 million animals are used in U.S. research annually. That's more than the population of California! Laws vary widely globally. In some countries, it's easier to test on animals than to bring your emotional support hamster on a plane! Animal tests predict human reactions with only 40-60% accuracy. Animal testing is expensive! A single experiment can cost more than a semester's worth of textbooks (and we know how pricey those are)! 56% of Americans oppose animal testing for product safety. So, what do you think about Animal Testing debate? #AnimalRights #EthicalScience #TestingAlternatives #ScienceVsEthics

Animal Question for Today: Why is all this stuff about how animals learn and perceive the world important? After posting all these fun facts about animals it made me think that I need to go beyond just the cool stuff animals can do to talk about why this is such an important topic for me. The more we understand how animals use their senses to engage with the world and how their brains make use of that information the better we can understand how our actions are making life difficult for these creatures and how we can change to protect them. Like just turning off more lights and changing the types of lights used outdoors to reduce #lightpollution. Better understanding animals helps us to see them with greater compassion and even helps us use that compassion more with our fellow humans. It makes the world a more awe inspiring place to live.
Science is just starting to understand what animals feel

This thread sharing people’s experiences working in animal research has now reached 1.5 million people on X in 24 hours (https://lnkd.in/gPRJVnvX). It is overwhelming in the best possible way to see the support for JUSTIFY that has resulted and the number of people who have worked in animal labs pressing follow on our social platforms. The discourse that has resulted from this post is yet another reminder why Justify is needed and of the true potential of our work as former animal lab workers. It is all too common for people to end up in animal research, if only for a brief time, and the trauma associated with this work is too often overlooked. Lab workers deserve a safe and supportive community to work through these experiences and animals do not deserve to suffer. Humans deserve human-relevant science that reliably furthers our health and well-being. Students deserve the right to pursue academia that doesn’t require them to harm others. The list goes on… I strongly encourage you to check out this thread if you have the time and mental capacity. Lindsay Oliver Mallory Cormier John Gluck

Exploring Animal Telepathy: How to Send a Powerful Message in 3 Easy Steps Animal telepathy is such an important way to connect with our animal companions beyond what we could ever have imagined is possible. To help understand telepathy, it helps to know what the word itself actually means. “Tele” derives from the Greek term “tēle-” which means “over distance” or “far off.” “Pathy”, derived from the Greek term “patheia” refers to “empathy.” As such, telepathy can be thought of as being able to feel empathy, or the emotions of others over a distance, and in doing so, being able to transmit information through energy exchange. It might seem like a difficult concept to understand for those of us who aren’t psychics or mystics. But the truth is any animal lover can practice animal telepathy. You don’t have to consult a crystal ball to truly understand your animal friends or send them your own messages, or receive theirs. Click here to read more : https://lnkd.in/fywJtvt

💻TODAY’S LIVESTREAM TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING EXTINCTION IN ANIMAL TRAINING AND EXPLORING THE ALTERNATIVES I love it when our field evolves, and new information helps us improve animal welfare. This week’s topic will explore the traditional approaches of using extinction and differential reinforcement (DRI/DRA), some challenges with these procedures, and the latest advances. We will explore how this applies to shaping new behaviors and addressing undesired responses. This one aims to be a fun exploration of both behavioral science and practical application. Join the livestream to learn why DRI and DRA have pretty much dropped from my training vocabulary. --------------- 📅▶️ MOST MONDAYS 11:00 AM CENTRAL (18:00 CET) The YOU be the Behavior Consultant livestream broadcasts most Mondays at 11:00 AM Central and 18:00 CET. Did you know….. … that as well as being the tallest mammal in the world, known for their gentle personalities and herbivore lifestyle, giraffes have individual and unique spots that are like fingerprints and no two giraffes are the same? 🦒 They are associated with the qualities of grace, elegance and adaptability, wisdom, patience and intuition. Giraffes can also symbolize seeing things from a higher perspective and rising above the mundane. 🦒 They are vital to keeping ecosystems well balanced, as they can forage and eat food at levels other animals cannot reach! 🦒 All 4 species of giraffe (there are 4!) are strong and fast too…. They can run at 55mph (when needed to) 🦒 There’s a lot we can learn from giraffes....🦒 (Photo Credit Chester Zoo and their new addition baby giraffe, Edie, born earlier this year). ❤️ And did you know we have a specialist team looking after Animal Health recruitment? (No giraffe roles to date, but plenty of Companion Animal, Equine and Ruminant roles!) ☎ 0131 553 6644 📲 07818 533 268 📧 jennie@chasepeople.com 🔗 Jennie Wickins 🏢 CHASE #animalhealth #animalhealthsales #medicalsales #animallovers #didyouknow #recruiting
