It's National Zoo Lover's Day and the total Solar Eclipse! The animals here at the Aquarium (fish zoo) will not be impacted by the eclipse because they are mostly indoors. However, wild animals will be impacted, primarily because of the change in light. The first documented case of change in animal behavior during a total eclipse was on June 3, 1239, and has been documented several times since. 🦆 Birds have been observed becoming quieter, as the light dims. Some roost while others fly to their nests, displaying a temporary confusion in their daily routines. 🐶 Dogs and cats might show signs of restlessness or confusion during a solar eclipse. Sensing the change in light, they may seek shelter or display behaviors akin to those during a thunderstorm. 🦉Owls may become more active during a solar eclipse, perceiving it as an early onset of dusk. 🦈 Marine animals may alter their behavior, with some species becoming more active while others seek shelter in response to the sudden change in light and temperature. A total solar eclipse offers a fascinating glimpse into the interconnectedness of our living planet.
