96 years of wisdom is worth listening to. Three of my favorite lessons from Blacksher: 1. Day 1 at WSR: If someone telling you NO doesn’t spark your interest then you best leave this office right now. 2. There is an ethical way to go about converting a no to a yes and if you are willing to work hard, get creative, and execute it usually leads to success for both parties and a life long friendship. 3. Never leave the office without a listing agreement. I still see and absorb the wisdom he passed down to others on a daily basis. Blessed to be with an awesome firm who cares less about occupation and more about people and relationships.
With great sadness, we announce the passing of our founder, Blacksher White-Spunner. Blacksher served in the Marines during World War II, then graduated from Auburn University before returning to Mobile, where he founded what is now known as White-Spunner Realty, Inc. He spent almost 70 years as a key player in the Mobile real estate industry, developing many of Mobile's residential subdivisions, commercial areas, and neighborhood retail centers. Even in the weeks before his passing, Blacksher was making deals and passing along his wisdom to his fellow principals and our agents. Blacksher leaves a legacy of humility, hard work, community development and service rooted in his faith in God to his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and generations to come.

Happy President Day! Honoring the Leaders Who Paved the Way! As we celebrate Presidents’ Day, we’re reminded of the visionary leaders who shaped our nation’s infrastructure. Just like these great leaders, our asphalt and concrete work contributes to the foundation of thriving communities. Here’s how we’re making a difference: 1. Quality that lasts: Our asphalt and concrete solutions withstand the test of time, just like the enduring legacy of past presidents. From roads to parking lots, we build with durability in mind. 2. Safety First: Safety was a priority for our presidents, and it’s our top concern too. Our meticulously paved roads ensure smooth travel for all, enhancing safety for pedestrians and drivers alike. 3. Community Builders: Like the presidents who worked tirelessly for the nation, we’re committed to community development. Our projects create accessible spaces, connecting neighborhoods and businesses. 4. Innovation and Progress: Presidents championed progress, and so do we. Whether it’s eco-friendly materials or cutting-edge techniques, we’re always pushing boundaries to improve our craft. Let’s celebrate Presidents Day by appreciating the infrastructure that unites us all. Let’s continue building a stronger, safer future together!

This sports #stadium #development is a prime example of successful collaboration between the city, the county, a professional sports organization, and a private developer. The project plans include 6,000 residential units (1,200 designated as affordable/workforce housing and 4,800 as market-rate #multifamily housing) along with 750,000 square feet of #retail space, a game day plaza, a cultural arts promenade, and dedicated green space with trail connectivity. #SanAntonio should take note, especially considering we've built two stadiums that have failed to activate the surrounding areas. Both are surrounded by asphalt parking lots that remain locked and unused for six days out of the week... let's start thinking bigger... #Alamodome #FrostBankCenter #RealEstate
Pinellas County Commissioners and the City of St. Petersburg City Council have given their blessing to our joint proposal to reshape the city's historic Gas Plant District. This represents the largest mixed-use development in Tampa Bay history, including 1,200 units of affordable/workforce housing, 750,000 square feet of retail and of course a new state-of-the-art ballpark for the Tampa Bay Rays. Throughout the process, we will be guided by principled and inclusive progress, and work hand in hand with the Rays, local elected officials and community stakeholders. The momentous and impactful work done by those before us must be celebrated in order to fully understand and appreciate what we have today. For Smoot Construction, this means not only remembering the work of enormous figures like Martin Luther King, Jr., but also the generations of perseverance and determination that came together to create a business like ours. As we enter our fourth generation of family ownership and round out our seventh decade of being black-owned, we embrace the immense pride in being able to be here today, to share our opportunities with others, and to continue the work of those before us. From the foothills of West Virginia and our humble beginnings as masonry contractors struggling to win work, to becoming the largest black-owned construction business in the Midwest, the Smoot family has lived its values and honored the work of generations and leaders before us. As shown in MLK Jr.'s powerful words, we must continue to work past our comfort, we must persist when it is convenient not to do so, and we must embrace challenge and controversy. We will continue to soar to new heights, to share our successes with others, and to lift up those other members of our community, so that one day, we will be part of legacy that our successors can look back on and celebrate. #mlkjr #martinlutherkingjr #blackownedbusiness #constructionindustry #mlkjrday

Check out the opening reception for The “Wide Awakes” opening reception at the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History! 🎨✨ The “Wide Awakes” were a significant force in American history, formed by five Connecticut men who led one of the largest and most unique mass movements. Their torchlit rallies and grassroots campaigns played a crucial role in defending democracy against slavery, ultimately helping to elect Lincoln and igniting the Civil War. ARC Farmington proudly printed and produced all the wall labels, action labels, object IDs, promotional banners, and vinyl-cut wall lettering for this impactful exhibit. We were proud to be a part of this powerful project showcasing this remarkable movement! 🌟 Thanks to Mike Solenzio and the Farmington team for their amazing work! #ARC #CreatewithARC #WideAwakes #ConnecticutMuseum #HistoryInTheMaking #ExhibitLaunch
