WIPG in the news: https://lnkd.in/gcVSVK4P The Western Indigenous Pipeline Group is a coalition of over 30 Indigenous communities that have signed on to seek an ownership stake in the government-owned Trans Mountain pipeline and its expansion. WIPG is the only one of the potential Indigenous buyers that has partnered with a pipeline company. Chinook Pathways is a 50-50 partnership between WIPG and Pembina Pipeline Corporation, meaning that if Chinook Pathways is successful, Pembina would replace Trans Mountain Corporation as the pipeline operator. “It wasn’t about money and it’s never been about money. Most of the communities that we meet with, it’s not the first question that comes up. The first question that always comes up, and in our case it’s the same, is environmental stewardship. It’s understanding how you can participate at the table and inform decisions when it comes to impacts to your territory.” #WIPG #IndigenousLeadership #CommunityEmpowerment #EconomicReconciliation #IndigenousPartnerships #equity #TransMountain #governmentofcanada

𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 : 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada Richard Wagner: "In my view, Parliament has plainly overstepped its constitutional competence in enacting this designated projects scheme". IAA, previously known as Bill C-69, enacted in 2019, allows federal regulators to consider the potential environmental and social impacts of various resource and infrastructure projects. Alberta's , former premier Jason Kenney referred IAA as "no more pipelines act." Reaction was swift from across Canada. Ontario Premier Doug Ford: "The federal impact assessment process needlessly duplicated Ontario's rigorous and world-leading environmental assessment requirements. At a time when it's never been more important to build critical infrastructure, including highways, transit, and critical mineral projects, we now have the certainty we need to get shovels in the ground." Lisa Baiton, CAPP president and CEO: "In the spirit of the court's call for co-operation, CAPP looks forward to collaborating with both the federal and provincial governments to ensure that projects in the national interest — those reinforcing energy security, providing lower emissions energy, and maintaining affordability to Canadians — will proceed in a timely manner". Federal Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault and Energy and Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson will shortly hold a joint virtual media meeting to respond to the ruling. As will Alberta Premier Danielle Smith later today. #energytransition #pipelines #energysecurity #netzero #cdnpoli #albertastrong

On Friday, we were delighted to welcome our existing partners, Balfour Beatty plc, Barhale Ltd, Mott MacDonald Bentley | MMB, MWH Treatment, Sweco, and Skanska back to the Anglian Water @one Alliance for the next five years, alongside rejoining partner Binnies. As one of the first utilities to establish an alliancing model, back in 2005, we know how efficient this model has proved to be. The long-term stability of this collaborative way of working has enabled us to deliver industry-leading innovations in areas like low carbon concrete, where we will have reduced carbon by 70% by 2030 relative to our baseline. This sector-leading alliancing model, along with the partnership working we’ve carefully nurtured across our region throughout previous AMPs, puts us in a uniquely strong position for the delivery of future investment programmes. Our proposed business plan for 2025-30 will see our largest ever enhancement programme, nearly doubling the size of our current plan to a record £9 billion investment. @one Alliance will be crucial to delivering £2.6 billion of capital programmes within this period, building the resilience of the East of England’s infrastructure and environment. Ian Hutchinson, Managing Director of Anglian Water’s @one Alliance, said: “Alliancing in this way allows partners to reimagine traditional ways of working by encouraging innovative thinking, advancement of new technology, and collaborative working between partners. This flexibility means that the @one Alliance plays a crucial role in enabling Anglian Water to deliver large-scale investments to build its region’s resilience against climate change. “By combining the @one Alliance’s partners’ years of investing in innovation and efficient delivery, we’ve been able to reduce the total cost of our proposed AMP8 plans by a huge £1bn. We’ve already seen how successful and powerful a truly integrated and collaborative alliancing approach can be. That’s why we’re delighted to welcome back our much-valued partners, along with Binnies this AMP, to support us in delivering this much-needed investment for our region.” To find out more visit https://lnkd.in/ehaY-i4w

Yesterday, the Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Shona Robison officially handed over the Stornoway Deep Water Terminal to its operators. Built by McLaughlin & Harvey Ltd, the new Deep Water Terminal, which started operating at the end of March, includes a facility for berthing cruise ships up to 360 metres long, a new deep-water berth to cater for larger cargo vessels and a freight ferry berth. The deep water terminal has been enabled by the Growth Accelerator model of investment and follows on from the success of the Growth Acceleratoer model used to enable the St James Quarter in Edinburgh and the Dundee Waterfront development which includes the V&A Dundee. The new facility will bring new revenue streams to the Port and position the Western Isles as a hub for new renewable industry activity including the plans for three offshore farms via the ScotWind framework, new onshore wind facilities and the development of the new interconnector between the islands and mainland. These opportunities alongside the enhanced tourism offer will deliver supply chain opportunities, new jobs and long-term economic benefits. Working closely with local delivery partners including the Stornoway Port Authority, Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, VisitScotland, the local community and The Scottish Government, this major capital project has been delivered with long-term economic outputs at its heart. https://lnkd.in/eEh5MBtU David McIntosh Neil Rutherford Tony Rose #infrastructure #economy #construction

🌟 We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Kyle Bakx and CBC News for the insightful coverage on the progress of Indigenous groups' potential ownership of the Trans Mountain pipeline. Your dedication to highlighting crucial discussions is invaluable. 🛠️ "An ownership stake would bring much-needed funding for critical infrastructure like housing, roads, sewers, and drinking water for Indigenous communities..." – Robert Morin, Chairman of Project Reconciliation. 🌱 At Project Reconciliation, we are committed to facilitating fair and equitable up to 100% Indigenous ownership for all 120+ Indigenous nations impacted by Trans Mountain in Alberta and BC. 💡 Project Reconciliation, established in 2018, advocates for a new economic paradigm where Indigenous communities actively participate in decision-making through material equity ownership of major projects. 💼 Our proposal of up to 100% Indigenous ownership of TMC through an empowering partnership framework aims to foster economic independence and strengthen environmental stewardship for Canada’s Indigenous Peoples. 🤝 Real Economic Reconciliation will take ALL of us. Together, Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people can change the existing business development model and create Indigenous capital for Indigenous nations in Canada. 🌎 Let's build a future where prosperity is shared, and generations to come benefit from sustainable growth and empowerment. Thank you, Kyle Bakx, for helping us amplify this vision. #ProjectReconciliation #IndigenousOwnership #EconomicReconciliation #TransMountainPipeline https://lnkd.in/gsd6mzWK
