Navigating the Post-SmartSky Era: Exploring Cost-Effective IFC Solutions for Business Aviation In the evolving landscape of IFC, SmartSky ATG isn’t the only option out there. Buckle up for some edge-of-your-seat action as we explore the exciting world of... satellite voice communication for air traffic control! The 2024 Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization Act also specifies and allocates funding for an FAA program to evaluate #SATVOICE as a sole means for delivering air traffic control messages in remote areas. FAA monitored performance testing will start late this calendar year and when combined with a successful PARC CWG effort, like what L2 Aviation supported for the first Inmarsat SwiftBroadband Safety STC and operational approvals, will allow airlines to remove one or both HF systems from the aircraft when using capable dual dissimilar SATCOM. This is a major step towards modernizing air traffic control communications and improving operational efficiency!
