This message from #India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas is picked up across the media landscape today. As a celebratory recognition of the impact of the Indian #diaspora around the world, the focus of his message is a telling one for us all interested in #diasporaengagement. He blends the local with the global in his message by primarily focusing on the importance of the diaspora in preserving India's "rich heritage" with their role in "strengthening global ties" for the nation. This is a prime example of what we mean when we say that diaspora engagement now blends domestic and foreign policy. The magic of India's diaspora story is not just the incredible ongoing and future impact that the diaspora will have on the development of India but in how the world views and engages with India through the leadership, actions, and impacts of the Indian diaspora across the globe. P.M. Modi is speaking to the power of diaspora #diplomacy. That is the beauty of diaspora engagement in the networked age - where it can reach. India and a few others have really understood this from the beginning and situated diaspora diplomacy at the heart of their work (such diplomacy is not just state-led anymore!). The reach of impact of this work is why countries, cities, and regions around the world are more and more fascinated by the topic. We now have a duty of care to meet this increased demand for knowledge and action with the right quality of advice and approach. Then something really special could be afoot for the globe through diaspora engagement. Onwards.

Just a week ago, a France based think tank called Varieties of Democracy put India on Rank number 104 just behind autocracies such as Afghanistan and even Niger which is under Military Occupation. Usually rebuttals to such claims come from our beloved External Affairs Minister S.Jaishankar but this time Former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott says it's curious that India is often ranked low in the freedom index by global think tanks. "This is because they identify Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a Hindu nationalist. But he is better called an Indian patriot who necessarily takes Hinduism seriously as the country's largest relegion. Sadly, faith in God and love of country are pretty rare in Western think tanks, which is why they find India's democracy easier to caricature than to understand." #bharatat77 #amritkaal #amritmahotsav #atmanirbharbharat #cultureiseverything #sanatandharma #shareit #foreignpolicy #diplomacy #investinbharat #realestate #democracyrankings #eigentumrealty #rajatjain #projectfinance #fundraising #debtfinancing #privateequityfunds #corporatefinance #economicgrowth

Double standards of western ratings agencies. Be it democracy rankings, Ease of living , Country's Sovereign rating which was last revised in early 2000 & not revised upwards inspite of strong macro-economic fundamentals, whereas countries like USA, UK, Italy etc are rated investment grade inspite their Debt/GDP of over 250+% whereas India's debt/GDP is just 86% & strong macro fundamentals. Very sad state of affairs.
