Manual Handling Injuries FAQs What should I reasonably lift? While there are no legal limits, you should only lift a comfortable load. If a load feels unstable, it is vital to protect your health and safety by requesting help from another worker or using lift equipment. What causes the majority of manual handling injuries? A handler carrying an uneven load can cause muscle fatigue as the object’s centre of gravity is not in the middle of the worker’s body. This can lead to unpredictable movements that require sudden force to stabilise the load, which is the leading cause of manual handling injuries. Can manual handling be avoided? Manual handling can be avoided in most workplaces by introducing lifting equipment instead. By replacing manual handling tasks with machines such as tow tugs or vacuum lifters, the safety and productivity of a workplace can increase.

SAFE WORKING LOAD One of the major causes of equipment failure, damage, and accidents is not adhering to the safe working load or workload limit. Safe Working Load (SWL) sometimes stated as the Normal Working Load (NWL) is the maximum safe force that a piece of lifting equipment, lifting device or accessory can exert to lift, suspend, or lower, a given mass without fear of breaking. Usually marked on the equipment by the manufacturer. Owing to the high cost of purchasing an equipment and cost of accidents treatment, as business owners, ensure that your workers are trained to pay strong adherence to this SWL and observe other safety protocols to prevent accidents. Never overload equipment to deliver more than its capacity just because you want to over deliver within a short period or because you want a quick return. It is cheaper to practice safety than had to deal with the consequences of non compliance. As we approach the end of the week, let's take a moment to revisit the importance of using proper lifting techniques to avoid injuries in the workplace. Whether you're lifting heavy equipment or moving boxes, using the correct methods can help prevent strains, sprains, and other musculoskeletal injuries. Tips for proper lifting: - Bend your knees and keep your back straight when lifting objects from the ground. - Get a firm grip on the object and use your legs to lift, not your back. - Keep the object close to your body as you lift and carry it. - Avoid twisting your body while lifting or carrying heavy loads. - If an object is too heavy or awkward to lift safely, ask for assistance or use mechanical aids like dollies or forklifts. By practicing proper lifting techniques, we can protect ourselves from unnecessary injuries and ensure a safe and healthy work environment . Let's prioritize safety and support each other in using these essential techniques every day! #SafetyFirst #LiftingTechniques #PreventInjuries #WorkplaceSafety #EverpraiseTechnologies #ETL #Oilandgas #Energy #Workshop #Safety

⚙️ Prevent Machinery-Related Hand & Finger Injuries 🛑 In this video, awareness is raised about the critical steps to protect yourself and others from machinery-related injuries in the workplace. 🔐 Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO): Before conducting machine maintenance or repairs, always follow proper Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures to ensure machinery is completely shut off. Safety starts with taking control of hazardous energy sources! 📦 Use Proper Posture & Mechanical Aids: When handling heavy objects, adopt correct postures and use mechanical aids like forklifts or hoists to avoid strains or hand injuries. Take care of your body—your health is your most valuable asset. ⏳ Take Time to Take Care: Don’t rush. Schedule regular breaks to rest and reset. Fatigue can lead to accidents, so take the time to ensure safety and precision in every task. #MachineSafety #HandProtection #LOTO #WorkplaceSafety #InjuryPrevention #TakeCare #StaySafe #SafetyFirst #MechanicalAids #RestForSafety 🖐️🔒⚙️🔧💡

Traditional cable covers or built-in anti-fatigue mat channels? One "solution" compounds slip, trip and fall injury risks, the other eliminates them. ➡Traditional cable covers (left): ❌PVC or metal cover raised 2-3 inches off the ground ❌Workers forced to constantly watch their steps ❌Clear and obvious trip and fall hazard ❌Impossible to roll carts over ➡Built-in anti-fatigue mat cable covers (right): ✅Eliminates trip hazards from cables / cords crossing walkways ✅Eliminates trip hazards from raised PVC or metal ✅Lay as flat as the mat itself ✅Accommodates carts -- According to the National Safety Council, tripping and slipping is the 3rd-leading "preventable" injury at work. According to NCCI, slip, trip and fall injuries are the 4th most costly workman's compensation claim. $50,000 per slip, trip and fall injury claim, on average. 12 work days missed due to injury, on average. According to National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) one of the easiest and most immediate ways to reduce slip, trip and fall hazards is to make sure cords and cables don't cross walkways. ❌Traditional cable covers cover up the problem. ✅Built-in mat channels solve the problem. 📌 HAND AND FINGER INJURIES: THE USE OF HAND SAVERS. 📌 Part 1 A hand or finger injury from being struck by a hammer can range from mild bruising to severe conditions such as fractures, dislocations, or soft tissue damage. Hand injuries account for approximately 20% of all workplace injuries, making them one of the most frequently injured body parts in industrial settings. Emerging construction initiatives have introduced various controls to minimize the risk of being struck by a hammer. 🔨 Hand savers or hammer guards are designed to reduce the risk of hand and finger injuries from hammer strikes, especially in environments where repetitive use of hand tools is common. How are you preventing hand and finger injuries at your workplace ❓ #HandSafety, #FingerProtection, #ConstructionSafety, #WorkplaceInjuryPrevention, #IndustrialSafety, #HammerSafety, #HandSavers, #SafetyCulture, #HSE, #InjuryPrevention

When a worker stands too close to a machine with rotating parts and their clothing becomes jammed, several dangerous consequences can occur: 1. Entanglement: The worker’s clothing can be rapidly pulled into the machine. This can lead to severe injuries, including crushing, tearing, or even amputation of body parts. 2. Immediate Injury: As the clothing is pulled, it can cause the worker to be dragged into the machine. This can result in fractures, lacerations, or other immediate traumatic injuries. 3. Strangulation: If the clothing is around the neck area, it can tighten and lead to strangulation, posing a serious risk to the worker's life. 4. Emergency Response: The sudden jamming of the machine can cause an emergency shutdown, which might prevent further injury but can also create other hazards, such as stopping the machine in a position that is difficult to release the trapped worker. To prevent such accidents, strict adherence to safety protocols is necessary, including: - Wearing fitted clothing and avoiding loose garments. - Using machine guards and barriers. - Maintaining a safe distance from moving parts. - Implementing emergency stop mechanisms. - Providing proper training on machinery use and safety procedures. #Moufidtaleb #safetyalert #opentonewopportunities #seekingnewjob
