A very happy morning to all... I Appreciate the efforts and expertise exhibited by NTPC in such a wonderful innovation... Which showcases India as the first ever Carbon Capture & Utilisation (CCU) on global levels.. I would like to know the following few clarifications for my learning and awareness. I would appreciate it if some technical experts can reply to this for a better understanding and upgrading the knowledge on a common platform: After reading this article, I searched for 3 questions on Google & the answers are: 1) What is the cost of Methanol per Kg? Ans: Rs 30-40/- 2) What amount of Hydrogen is required to produce Methanol? Ans: 0.19 Kg. 3) What is the cost of Hydrogen per Kg? Ans: Rs 300/- So from these 3 questions it's reflecting that to make 1 kg Methanol which is Rs 30-40/- we required 0.19 kg of hydrogen which cost us Rs 57/- and also lots of electricity is required in production. This needs clarity on actual cost incurred and whether it really leads to significantly raise or fall in the GREEN Energy Sector..? NTPC, with a legacy of innovation, has set a new standard in the energy sector. One of its significant achievements is India’s first-ever Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) project at the Vindhyachal plant, commissioned in November 2024. By synthesising CO₂ from flue gas using hydrogen produced by a PEM electrolyser and converting it into methanol, NTPC has established a transformative benchmark in sustainable fuel production. This achievement reflects NTPC’s dedication to pioneering sustainable energy solutions and driving India’s transition toward a low-carbon future, redefining what’s possible in the energy sector. #1stIn50Years #Decarbonisation #EnergyInnovation #SustainableEnergy #GreenEnergy #PoweringIndia #FutureOfEnergy #IndiaEnergyJourney #LegacyOfExcellence #50YearsOfPoweringProgress #50YearsOfInfinitePossibilities #PoweringProgressResponsibly #NTPC
