One of the main contributions within my PhD thesis is the proposal of a Software-Defined Networking (SDN)-based mechanism for enabling the seamless integration of Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) applications in dynamic scenarios, in which the MEC applications have to be relocated between different locations. We focused on interoperability with existing 4G and 5G networks. This solution is presented and analyzed in the research article "A Software-Defined Networking Solution for Transparent Session and Service Continuity in Dynamic Multi-Access Edge Computing", published in the IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management journal. The article is available at the IEEE website: https://lnkd.in/dus29-hp. You can also find the open access version on arXiv at: https://lnkd.in/daFpG-VN Thanks to all the co-authors for the effort! 📢 Big news: Hosting agreement signed for new supercomputer #Arrhenius NAISS – Nationell Akademisk Infrastruktur för Superdatorer i Sverige and Linköpings universitet have signed a hosting agreement with EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU). This officially makes us the host for the new European supercomputer #Arrhenius. It will be installed at Campus Valla in Linköping and is set to become one of the fastest in the world, with an estimated capacity of around 40 Petaflops (40 million billion operations per second). “This is a great opportunity for Sweden, NAISS, and LiU to play a central role in future compute-intensive research,” says NAISS Acting Director Björn Alling. Vetenskapsrådet / Swedish Research Council, via NAISS, will fund 65 percent of #Arrhenius. The equivalent compute capacity will be allocated to Swedish users by NAISS. EuroHPC JU will fund and control the remaining 35 percent, and allocate its share of resources to European researchers. The procurement is already well underway, with a tender expected to go out within the next few weeks. Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/eNUeyfrT Follow us here for the latest #Arrhenius updates!

Exciting news for quantum computing in Poland! We are expanding our operations into Poland to accelerate quantum solutions for enterprises, research institutions, and academia. Poland marks our seventh global office, and as part of the expansion, we have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gdańsk University of Technology, a leading technical university in Poland. This strategic partnership represents a significant milestone in the Polish quantum community, facilitating the exchange of expertise and knowledge while fostering innovation. In addition, our current Global Head of Sales and Marketing, Sylwia Barthel de Weydenthal, has been appointed as Country Director for the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) market, effective June 1, 2024. “Through this expansion and collaboration with Gdansk University of Technology, we see an opportunity to drive innovations in quantum development that will directly benefit the Polish ecosystem,” says Mikko Välimäki, our Co-CEO. “Quantum computers mark a worldwide technological revolution that has only just begun to develop and which we intend to be a part of,” stresses Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, Rector of Gdańsk Tech. This technology, combined with the immense computing power of our supercomputer "Kraken", will give us growth opportunities that elude the imagination. Moreover, building such a computer in Pomerania will be a great ground for cooperation between the researchers at Gdańsk University of Technology and internationally recognised companies and institutions, as well as with other universities in Gdańsk.” Read the full press release here: https://lnkd.in/dajp7KZU #QuantumComputing #Innovation #Education #Poland #Technology Krzysztof Wilde, Jerzy Proficz, Mikko Välimäki, Jan Goetz, Sylwia Barthel de Weydenthal (she/her), EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU)

CISTER researchers won the Best Paper Candidate Award at RTCSA 2024 The paper entitled "Improved Memory Contention Analysis for the 3-Phase Task Model" authored by Jatin Arora, PhD, Syed Aftab Rashid, Geoffrey Nelissen, Cláudio Maia, and Eduardo Tovar was the Best Paper Candidate of the 30th IEEE International Conference on Embedded and Real-Time Computing Systems and Application (RTCSA). RTCSA 2024 took place on 21-23 August 2024 in Sokcho, South Korea. The paper addresses the problem of DRAM contention in modern COTS multicore platforms and provides a fine-grained analysis to upper-bound the contention that phased tasks, e.g., the 3-phase tasks, can suffer. This achievement marks an important milestone toward predictable multicore platforms ✔ #isep #feup #politécnicoporto #universidadedoporto #softwaredev #embeddedsystems #computerscience #realtimesystem #technology #tech #computerenginneering #research #researchpaper
