Deltic Energy's Selene well has truly kicked off, it's been a long six years of trying to get this project moving. A bittersweet day, as the new administration announced the extension and expansion of the EPL at the same time as the spudding of the first exploration well drilled in U.K. waters this year. The reality is the U.K. needs this gas, we don't have batteries to store the excess production from wind and solar, so gas base load capabilities are needed all the more. Gas will be that until we sort out a serious nuclear fleet renewal. Let's hope the latest kick the North Sea gets isn't terminal, or it's fracced LNG from the US here on out... #EPL #labour #exploration #northsea

Pulsar Helium Inc. Inc: Fighting the helium shortage Pulsar Helium’s Topaz Minnesota project is well positioned to help alleviate the global shortage. In February this year, Pulsar Helium Inc (Pulsar) announced extraordinarily high helium concentrations of up to 13.8% from its Jetstream #1 appraisal well drilled at its Topaz project in Minnesota. This has positioned Topaz as the highest-concentration helium discovery in North America and expectations are high for its upcoming work programmes. Cliff Cain, CEO of the The Edelgas Group (an international gas advisor firm engaged by Pulsar), commented: “Comparing this to our extensive database for helium occurrences around the world, we are pleased to say the results from the Jetstream #1 appraisal well are the highest helium concentrations that we have ever seen. During the quarter the Company outlined a conceptual Otway gas development strategy that explores a scenario for the application of TDO's T/49P well carry transfer to VIC/P79, providing flexibility to target the most commercially attractive prospects in the initial phase of the 2025 Otway Exploration Drilling Program (OEDP) with Joint Venturer and Operator ConocoPhillips Australia. Drill planning activities for the upcoming OEDP continued with the contracting of Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessels (AHTSVs) and subsurface evaluation of new and reprocessed 3D seismic towards the selection of drilling locations for Phase 1 of the OEDP. An article I wrote in this months issue of World Pipelines on the detection and sizing of metal loss in oil and gas pipelines. Looking at the importance of  inspection system performance specifications, inspection data verification and rigorous ILI system testing. Successful pipeline inspection comes down to may factors although a key critical component is an ILI systems ability to accurately detect and size anomalies. Probability of detection (POD), probability of identification (POI) and accuracy of sizing "POS" are key tool performance specifications to consider when selecting an ILI system based on pipeline operating parameters and expected anomaly types. Test yard inspection data verification allows for the comparison of ILI data vs either artificial or natural flawed specimen defect measurements for both the calculation and confirmation of ILI system performance specifications.
