🌞💨⚡TotalEnergies and the DTU - Technical University of Denmark are advancing renewable energy research with the Risø Hybrid Power Plant. This new test facility, located at DTU’s Risø campus, combines two wind turbines, over 1,600 m² of solar panels, a 1.25 MWh storage battery, and an advanced electricity network interface. It will enable researchers to explore how to optimize wind and solar power with battery storage for stable electricity production. The plant will be the central part of DTU-TotalEnergies Excellence Centre of Clean Energy (DTEC) research into a more sustainable energy supply, providing an essential tool for developing and testing new technologies before they are scaled up. #TotalEnergies #DTU #Research

Calling all out-of-the-box thinkers! The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently launched the $125,000 #ScienceSynthesis Prize in search of new and comprehensive knowledge on the current state of science in renewable integration. As new renewable energy technologies are developed and integrated into the electric grid, new opportunities and challenges must be addressed. The #ScienceSynthesis Prize aims to identify these potential roadblocks and areas of investment. The Science Synthesis Prize is part of a new Grid Resource Integration Technology (GRIT) Prize Series. The GRIT Prize Series is an OE effort in partnership with other offices to coordinate prizes that focus on technology integration into grid systems, including storage, new controls, and distributed energy systems. Fraunhofer-Institut für Solare Energiesysteme ISE Topcon solar cell in the M10 format with 24 per cent efficiency Topcon solar modules are increasingly replacing Perc technology. The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE announced that it was the first European research institute to switch to large-area M10 silicon wafers. This square wafer format with edge lengths of 182 millimeters enables higher cell efficiency. The Fraunhofer ISE achieved an efficiency of 24 percent for its Topcon solar cells. Excited to share our latest publication on "Optimal Utilization of Frequency Ancillary Services in Modern Power Systems"! As the world transitions toward greater integration of renewable energy, managing grid stability becomes increasingly important. Our research addresses this challenge by exploring the optimal use of frequency ancillary services, which are vital for maintaining grid balance, particularly in systems with high penetration of wind and solar power. In this study, we developed strategies to: Enhance system stability with minimal reliance on conventional power plants. Maximize the contribution of renewable energy sources to frequency control. Optimize resource allocation for frequency regulation, leading to a more resilient and sustainable grid. Key Highlights: Application of advanced control techniques for managing frequency ancillary services in renewable-heavy grids. Collaboration with renowned researchers and experts in power systems. Potential for reducing grid dependence on fossil fuel-based reserves while maintaining system reliability. IPCEIs are led by EU countries, and as cross-border breakthrough innovation 🔬projects, they can contribute significantly to the achievement of EU strategies, like the #EUGreenDeal. Today, at #IntersolarEurope, SolarPower Europe and representatives from the inverter industry launched 🚀 the paper ‘Inverters 2.0: Strengthening Europe’s inverter industry’. The paper includes a plan for an IPCEI for #IncredibleInverters which was presented to Kerstin Jorna, the European Commission's Director-General for Industry.
