“I liked the unique approach Tony used in portraying the history of baseball and how The United States of America benefited from not just entertainment but also physical & mental fitness for our military troops.” This is one of the first reviews I got from readers of my book, BASEBALL: The New York Game. Although the reader didn’t leave a name, I’m honored nonetheless. As Co-Chair of BT's Armed Forces Network I'm thrilled to be welcoming some of BT's veterans to Twickenham tomorrow for the much-anticipated Army v Navy rugby match in the BT Box! As we gear up for this exciting event, I'm reflecting on the invaluable lessons learned from my own sporting journey. It's clear that team sports offer a wealth of benefits beyond the game, fostering essential qualities like leadership, fitness, respect, and empathy – qualities that are equally valuable in the workplace. As we witness the dedication and mindset of high-performing athletes, it prompts an intriguing question: do our business leaders share the belief that they are world-class? Let's explore how companies are leveraging the power of sports to unite colleagues and enhance performance. I'm curious if there are any studies shedding light on this phenomenon. Join me in this conversation as we uncover new insights together! Paul McVeigh, M.Sc. do you have any evidence? Sending best wishes to both teams, but of course hoping for an Army win! #sports #leadership #army #navy #rugby

The competition is undoubtedly what draws us all to the #Olympics. But who doesn't get wrapped up in an athlete's story?? Here's a few quick stories of former Olympic athletes, all of whom have served their country in a different uniform. There's not an official count of how many US servicemembers have participated in the Olympic games, but the number is in the hundreds. Quite impressive when you consider the athlete's first responsibility is not to their athletic training. #MilitaryMarketing #Military #Marketing

Fascinating article on true leadership. The Ranger Regiment requires all levels of higher leadership to undergo RASP 2 at each critical promotion. IE, PSG to 1SGT to SGM. Slim chance the Peter Principle can set in. Oh how corporate America could benefit from such. https://lnkd.in/gqkNJS2Y
