With the Australian Open in full swing (don't sleep on my guy Ben Shelton 🇺🇸), this news couldn't be more appropriately timed. Global sporting equipment company Amer Sports, perhaps best known for manufacturing the widely used Wilson brand tennis rackets, is seeking a valuation of approximately $10 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧, and eyeing a $1 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐏𝐎 by month's end. This would mark the first billion-dollar IPO of the year and the largest since BIRKENSTOCK early in 4Q 2023. Guiding this headlining transaction are the dynamic #CapitalMarkets teams at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, as counsel for Amer, and Latham & Watkins as underwriters' counsel. This principle holds true for running a successful startup or business. Identify what matters most to your business and be laser focused on achieving them. Stop pursuing vanity metrics and focus on metrics that will keep you in business and will help you to grow. Announcing a $5million pre-seed raise is ball possession whilst hitting $1million in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) adds up to the final scoreline. Focus on the final scoreline, not on the ball possession. Ps: Apologies to the Arsenal fans, I couldn’t think of a better club to use for this analogy. 😆

I’ve noticed something recently with my boys and their baseball games. The games they win are where the team consistently hits singles and they get runners on base. If they were only going for home runs, they would honestly lose every game. They are nice when they happen, but are more like icing on the cake of scoring consistent runs. I think real estate is similar. Every deal doesn’t need to be a home run. Consistent singles are the way to go. What is a single? Depends on where you are at. Maybe a single is buying your first property. Maybe it’s getting a commission on a sale. Maybe it’s finding a deal and partnering on it with someone else with more experience or capital.
