Motorcycles sales decline during January–March 2024, compared with the same period in 2023 A total of 19,903 motorcycles and Off-Highway-Vehicles (OHV) were sold from January–March 2024, marking a decrease of 11.0 per cent compared with the same period in 2023. Road motorcycles made up 41.3 per cent of total sales with 8,217. This is a decrease of 10.2 per cent on 2023 figures. Off road motorcycles made up 36.5 per cent of total sales with 7,260 units, a decrease of 11.9 per cent on 2023 figures. Off-Highway Vehicles accounted for 15 per cent of total sales, with 2,976 vehicles sold. Brazil 2024 Motorcycle Market Booming (+20%) The Brazilian motorcycle market is booming. In the first six months of 2024, sales of new motorcycles reached 929.562 units (+19.8%), a huge increase from last year's +21.3%. Honda, Yamaha, Shineray are all on the podium. Trends and prospects for the Brazilian motorcycle industry: Building on the significant growth observed in recent years, with the domestic market expanding from less than 1 million units in 2018 to 1.57 million units in 2023, securing its position as the seventh largest in the world, the demand for new two-wheelers seems to remain strong. In fact, in the first six months of 2024, sales of new motorcycles reached 929.562 units (+19.8%), a huge increase from last year's +21.3%. The motorcycle market is growing rapidly, with sales increasing by 14.1% year-on-year, while the scooter market is growing even faster, with a 31.9% increase so far this year. Looking at the performance of the top car manufacturers, Honda remains at the top with an increase of 18.9% and sales of over 500,000 units. Yamaha follows closely behind, also showing growth (+10.7%), while local manufacturer Mottu slips to fourth place with a sales increase of 15.7%, surpassed by Chinese company Shineray, which has seen a significant increase in sales (+142%). All other manufacturers have seen sequential sales growth, ranging from a 5.5% increase (SYM) to a staggering 146% increase (Bajaj).

Motorcycle sales were off slightly (-1.8% YoY) in Australia last year. The most significant drop was in the Scooter category (-22.5%). OHV (Quads/ATVs) were also down (-3.8%).
