One of the fastest growing events opportunity? (set to 2x in value by 2026) Events in Asia! While, between Thailand and Singapore this week, I have been blown away by conversations I am having, and the staggering growth and opportunity in this region. Here's the focus: 1. Destination is everything The world wants to combine business/personal travel. (I am here with my family for example.) Make the location of your event great. People will show gratitude through increased attendance. 2. Unmatched content execution We all know content is key, but Asia does this so well. - Loads of cameras involved in the events. - Great reach on socials. - Extended ROI of the events. 3. Experiences are key Gone are the days of traditional trade shows = highest ROI. "In" are unique event experiences that prioritizes: - The people over the numbers - Memorability over status quo - Invite only over everyone come Let's learn from Asia's event playbook here! #events #growth #b2bmarketing

The exhibitions and events industry is truly on the rise, and there's no better example of this growth than what has been seen at IMEX 2024. As Carina Bauer, IMEX CEO, highlights, “the sense of community and shared purpose among buyers, exhibitors, speakers, and attendees is stronger than ever.” This unity is more than just a good feeling – it translates into real business opportunities, valuable connections, and innovative ideas that have a lasting impact. Having been part of countless trade shows and events myself, I can say with confidence that there's a renewed energy in the air. The resilience of our industry has shone brightly, especially over the past few years. It has adapted, it has innovated, and now, we’re seeing not just a return to form, but a real evolution. More exhibitors are joining in, activations are becoming more immersive, and fringe events are emerging all over, both on and off the show floor. It’s a clear sign that the industry feels at home here, ready to seize new opportunities. What makes events like IMEX America truly special is that they go beyond business. It's about that sense of togetherness and the shared experiences that make us all feel like part of a bigger story. As we head into the coming months, there’s a lot to look forward to—new ideas taking shape, communities and relationships strengthening. The future of our industry is bright, and events like IMEX America continue to prove just how powerful our community is. It’s not just about the business opportunities; it’s about the shared experiences that keep us connected and drive our collective success. Stay ahead of the curve in the world of events. Subscribe to my newsletter for the latest insights, tips, and strategies to make the most of your trade show experiences. Don’t miss out—let’s keep the conversation going! #exhibitionsnandevents #eventprofs #eventmarketing Expo Consulting

The Business Events industry will continue to be a major contributor to Singapore's tourism performance. Events ranging from corporate meetings, workshops and conferences, all the way to conventions and tradeshows. I have had the opportunity to see (especially from my years as a business events manager) how the coming together of professionals and business executives generate high levels of collaborative initiatives, business development, knowledge sharing, and opportunities for individuals to grow professionally. One of Singapore Tourism Board's newer videos is a great reflection of how impactful business events can be: https://lnkd.in/gKS3Ti3c I do, however, have one caveat. Our tourism industry cannot just rely on Business Events to drive performance. As a destination, we need to be continually looking at how we create and curate new and desired experiences that bring meaning and aspirational fulfilment to potential visitors. Although small, we do have greenfield spaces in Singapore for the development of such products. This requires immediate attention as time is required to develop and build these experience offerings. BUT the Business Events industry is going to remain strong for Singapore!!!

In a historic triumph, Mala Dorasamy and the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) have clinched the prestigious title of the World's Leading Meetings and Conference Centre 2023 at the World Travel Awards (WTA) Grand Final Gala Ceremony in Dubai. This remarkable feat, achieved in the face of stiff competition from 18 contenders, positions MITEC as a global benchmark in the sector. As the first purpose-built venue in Malaysia for meetings, conferences, exhibitions, and lifestyle events to secure a WTA World Award since the awards' inception in 1993, MITEC's success speaks volumes about the strength of the Malaysian business events industry. Graham E. Cooke, the founder of WTA, hailed this accomplishment as an inspiration, emphasizing how MITEC's commitment resonates globally. MITEC's Chief Executive Officer, Mala Dorasamy, attributes this unparalleled achievement to the unwavering dedication of every team member, board members, clients, service providers, and stakeholders. Boasting an impressive 52,000 square meters of exhibition and convention space, MITEC stands as the largest trade and exhibition center in Malaysia. In a testament to its resilience and adaptability, the year 2023 marked the busiest period for MITEC since its post-COVID-19 reopening. MITEC's journey, from serving as Malaysia's first mega vaccination center in 2021 to its reopening as a dynamic business and lifestyle events venue in 2022, culminated in hosting over 160 events and welcoming more than 3 million visitors in 2023. This exceptional trajectory solidifies MITEC's status as an exemplary force in the industry, setting new standards for excellence and innovation. #ubuntu #congratulations #winningtogether #innovation #businesswithpurpose

Last week when attending TTG Asia Media's ITCMA & CTW Asia 2024 in Bangkok, Karen Yue and panelists touched on the concept of #ReturnOnTime for event attendees. This really hit home. As event professionals, we often focus on Return on Investment (ROI), but what about Return on Time (ROT)? Just as my friend, Chermaine T. had commented on my previous post, most of our guests are business leaders with heavy responsibilities and, time is one of the most valuable resources attendees can give. So, as an attendee, how can we estimate our ROT before an event? For me, I ask myself three questions before deciding if I want to register for an event: - Content relevance: Is there a chance that I will learn something new or gain new insights? - Speaker attraction: Any speakers whom I want to hear or learn from? - Networking Value: Are there any companies or contacts that I'll have a chance to meet at the event? Meanwhile, as an #eventprof, I gauge our guests' ROT by observing: - Engagement levels: are people leaning in, participating, asking questions? - Presentation feedback: did the sessions resonate and provide real value? - Networking buzz: is the room alive with conversations and connections? - Post-event interaction: are attendees continuing to engage with the content and each other? In a world where time equals value, understanding ROT is really the first step for us, #eventplanners in creating meaningful events. #EventStrategy #ReturnOnTime #EventROI #TimeWellSpent #EventPlanning #AttendeeExperience #EventImpact
