*** Australia-Hungary Tech Bridge - LAST CHANCE TO REGISTER! *** Just a quick reminder that it is your last chance to register for the Australia-Hungary Tech Bridge event on Wednesday. Register at https://lnkd.in/gRH6HkRA When: Wednesday, 29 November, 5:30-7_30pm Where: International Chamber House, 121 Exhibition Street Why: (1) because business technology is exciting, (2) there will be an interesting line-up of speakers and topics, (3) there will be awesome Hungarian wine! On a more personal note, when I submitted my PhD thesis for examination in 2010 at Swinburne University of Technology, on the growth of ICT SMEs in #Australia and #Hungary, I was asked to explain WHY these two countries? As a researcher, it was not an easy question to answer, with academic rigour. I built my argument on the strong IT clusters in Melbourne and the Budapest, the unexploited economic potential between these markets, and the close proximity in terms of business environment, culture and closeness to the respective large markets of #Europe and #Asia. At the event on Wednesday, we are examining these arguments 13 years later. After a focused introduction delivered by government representatives from Australia (Paul O'Hagan and Stuart Bland, Global Victoria) and Hungary (Rita Vago, Consular Office of Hungary, Melbourne), we will have a round table discussion with Allan Dall from The Glue, Balazs Szima-Marmarosi from Digital Thinkers, Ferenc Birloni Dr. from the PHI Institute for Augmented Intelligence and Medi-AR, and Attila Horvath (https://lnkd.in/exChg5ZZ) from InnovITech Kft. In the conversation, we will be covering questions about the experiences and opinions of our panellists, namely: 1. What are the most important opportunities and challenges of running a tech businesses in Australia and Hungary? 2. How do you see your companies’ future prospects, considering these opportunities and challenges? 3. How do you anticipate Artificial Intelligence to change the technology sector you operate in? 4. What advice would you have for entrepreneurial businesses, who consider extending their activities internationally, entering into new markets? See you on Wednesday! (I just spoke to Rita and she needs to submit the final attendence list tomorrow, so be quick and register, not to miss out! You can still register at https://lnkd.in/gRH6HkRA) La Trobe University, RMIT University, Victoria University, Deakin University, University of Melbourne, Swinburne Innovation Studio, Silicon Beach Australia, RMIT Activator, Melbourne Accelerator Program (MAP), WoWT (War on Wasted Talent), Australian Serbian Commerce Chamber), Timothy Carroll, Tim Cara, Alex Maritz, Professor Mile' Terziovski, David Hauser, Aldeida Aleti, Santo Buccheri, Jason Sun, André Ferretto, Jim Papas, Dr Vanessa Ratten, Selvi Kannan, Ambika Zutshi, #CEBFMelbourne

The Vibrant Scottish Tech Sector and A Portal to the Future. Last week’s Glasgow Tech Week served as a powerful reminder of what modern Glasgow and contemporary Scotland offers when it comes to the technology sector. The line up of speakers and presenters was deep. Global investors, universities, and international business partners should take note. The Scottish tech sector is burgeoning and hungry. UKTN recently released a comprehensive report that highlighted how the tech sector in Scotland is expanding rapidly. It noted that the tech industry comprises nearly 15,000 companies and employs around 400,000 individuals across cities and regions in Scotland. As I survey the Scottish technology economy, I turn to member organisations like ScotlandIS and see the range of groups that comprise it. Scotland possesses a highly skilled and trained tech workforce with some of the most innovative companies around. You will see innovation and tech expertise across wireless communication, big data, cybersecurity, digital health, software, sensors, digital and creative technologies. And Scots are located around the world in global tech markets - running and starting tech companies, researching and teaching at universities, and offering their skills across international sectors. As the US and the world looks through portals of opportunity for growth and innovation, Scotland’s vibrant tech sector shines bright.
