On May 20, Deepthi captured the gold medal in the women's 400m T20 category, setting a new world record. Every sport is important

As I reflect on the REA India Premier League 2023, a deep sense of pride and warmth fills me. Over two vibrant days, we witnessed a remarkable gathering - 16 Cricket teams, 50+ Badminton players, 35+ teams revelling in fun sports, a spirited audience of over 300 and numerous virtual viewers through YouTube, united as one big family.     Our cricket tournament took centre stage this year as well. We had 16 teams bringing their A-game to the field, leaving no stone unturned in their attempt to bag the coveted winners’ trophy. With teams showcasing their grit and skill across 15 matches and 30 innings, the sheer intensity - marked by 1226 runs, 1021 balls bowled, 126 wickets taken, 60 fours, and 23 sixes smashed - was nothing short of electrifying. In the end, our HR team won the trophy for the 4th consecutive time. Congratulations, team HR!     Adding a new dimension this year, we introduced a Badminton Championship, for both men and women, attracting over 50 players who brought a high level of expertise, making the competition intense and thrilling. At the risk of boasting some more, the HR team emerged winners in both men and women categories, leaving me beaming with much pride.     Other fun sporting events, including, Penalty Shootout, Tug of War, and a Relay Race witnessed stellar participation from across the firm.   A huge shout-out to everyone who worked tirelessly to make these two days a resounding success and a special thanks to our leaders for continuously inspiring their teams to deliver their very best.     The level of teamwork, passion, friendly competition, and bonding displayed on and off the field is something that I will never forget. It's moments like these that remind me of the strength and beauty of our community at REA India.     Checkout some glimpses of the REA India Premier League 2023.     REA India Housing.com PropTiger.com makaan.com    #REAIndiaPremierLeague #ComeHome #ComeHomeToREAIndia #GreatPlacesToWork #Teamwork #EmployeeEngagement #Collaboration #CompetitiveSpirit #OneFamily  #Organization  #Celebrations  #Employees  #HR #HumanResources #Culture #Passion  #Engagement #Teamwork  #Startups #team #leadership #success #kudos #people #sports 

What if we talked about diversity, equity and inclusion ? Those who know me well know that although I practice different sports, I am not a big sports fan in general. However, I would like to highlight a great initiative taken by the #TCS London Marathon organization which recently transformed the 3 letters of DEI into impactful actions. Few people have certainly noticed this historic news, but for the first time at the TCS London Marathon 2024, the wheelchair athletes' prize fund will be equal to able-bodied athletes. https://lnkd.in/eedANF6Q In a recent interview on CNBC TV18, TCS  Global CMO,  Abhinav Kumar has recalled the long and consistent story of TCS investments in Marathons. Against All Odds: Sharath Gayakwad's Inspiring Journey 🌟 From a small-town boy with a disability to one of India's top para-athletes, Sharath Gayakwad's story is a testament to resilience, determination, and unwavering spirit. Early Life 🌱 Born on May 10, 1991, in Bangalore with a congenital deformity in his left hand, Sharath faced physical and social challenges but never let his disability define him. Discovering Swimming 🏊♂️ At nine, a school teacher introduced Sharath to swimming as therapy. His natural talent was evident, and soon, coaches encouraged him to compete. Training & Competitions 🏅 Sharath trained rigorously, often with able-bodied swimmers. His hard work paid off with state-level medals, fueling his ambition for national and international success. Breaking Barriers 🚀 In 2003, he won his first national medal at the Sub-Junior Nationals. By 2009, at the IWAS World Games, he clinched five medals, including two golds, establishing himself internationally. London 2012 Paralympics 🇬🇧 Qualifying for the 2012 London Paralympics was monumental. Although he didn't medal, his journey inspired countless athletes with disabilities. Asian Para Games 2014 🌟 Sharath's career peak came at the 2014 Asian Para Games in Incheon, winning six medals (one silver, five bronze), setting an Indian record. Challenges & Resilience 💪 Sharath overcame limited training facilities, financial constraints, and societal prejudices. He balanced training with earning a Commerce degree from Jain University. Giving Back 🌍 Sharath mentors young athletes and advocates for better facilities, highlighting para-sports' potential and promoting inclusivity. Legacy & Impact 🏆 Sharath's journey from a boy with a disability to a decorated para-athlete is inspirational. Our 'Beyond Boundaries' journey took us to Ahmedabad, where we witnessed the power of inclusivity, passion, and aspirations unfolding. From empowering grassroots talents to delivering cricket kits, our initiative champions sports by enabling young women and girls to pursue their cricketing dreams. The initiative kicked off in Mumbai by unveiling our first container alongside Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. Our focus on supporting young female players became more than a pledge; it became a promise delivered. With 750 cricket kits already impacting local academies, we've just begun. This initiative goes beyond numbers – for every 100 runs scored in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, we've pledged over 2,000 kits to grassroots clubs worldwide.
