#InfosysFoundation has always focused on promoting traditional Indian art forms, aware of the role they play in preserving and enhancing a nation’s culture. However, the artists that perform these ancient art forms must also be nurtured. As the pandemic has taken away more than a crore of creative jobs, the Foundation wanted to provide artists a platform to showcase their talent and reignite public interest in these art forms, post the pandemic. Partnering with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), the Foundation conducted art and cultural festivals across eight cities, where 246 art forms were exhibited. About 47,000 people attended this festival in person, while more than 48,000 culture lovers attended virtually. As infrastructure plays a vital role for artists as well, the Foundation financially aided the renovation the Khincha Auditorium in BVB in Bengaluru, which has a seating capacity of 300 people, ensuring that it will become one of the top performance stages in the world. Similarly, to foster the South Indian art form, Yakshagana, the Foundation established a training and research center, constructed a hall for daily training, a library, a museum, and an auditorium with a seating capacity of 500 at the Yakshagana Kalaranga in Udupi, Karnataka. The provision of infrastructure for the Khincha Auditorium and Yakshagana Kalaranga, the organization of the art and culture festivals is a testament to highlight underrepresented artistes and provide the right platforms to showcase their talents and earn a living through a steady income. #InfosysCSR | #culture | #art | #yakshagana
