Ghost hiring refers to a practice where companies list job openings that they don't actually intend to fill. This can happen for several reasons: 1. Market Research: Employers may want to see what kind of talent is available in the market and at what salary expectations. 3. Public Relations: Posting jobs can give the impression that the company is growing or doing well, even if it isn't. 4. Meeting Internal Metrics: Some HR departments might have quotas for job postings or interviews, even if there are no immediate hiring needs.
