Once data projects start, many executives think they need to build an in-house BI team. That often means they hire one or two engineers/analysts to "fix their data challenge." Over the past 10 years, I have led and built in-house BI teams and remote BI teams for clients for all kinds of businesses and corporations. Speaking from this experience, most organizations do not need an in-house BI team. They need analysts who collaborate closely with the business, and they eventually need a strategic data role. But for all technical Business Intelligence roles, you need to answer 5 questions before you hire in-house. I made this guide with our team to help executives navigate these questions and their related challenges.

Expertise in Healthcare Analytics | Driving Data-Driven Business Growth | Data Visualization | Generative AI, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Quantum Computing
My mom instilled in me a valuable lesson during my childhood: "Knowledge grows when shared." This translates well to my work at Optum. While some days require going above and beyond project requirements, the challenges are rewarding. Each interaction exposes me to new scenarios and expands my knowledge base. Recently, a colleague approached me regarding - "Can Power BI write back to a SQL database using Power Apps?" Business intelligence dashboards should go beyond simply displaying data; they should empower users to gain insights. Ideally, users should be able to interact with the information, update specific parameters based on their input, and see the results in real-time. Additionally, allowing users to add comments directly from the dashboard would enhance collaboration. Below link I found helpful for those who want to explore further: https://lnkd.in/gTEqsMiB

Solving your BI challenge isn’t as simple as bringing a BI analyst and an engineer. Business intelligence is primarily a non-technical problem, so how could hiring a data engineer or reporting analyst fix it? Delegating BI to your IT Director and a few consultants won’t get buy-in from your entire company. They just don’t have enough power. Instead, you need an executive sponsor. 7 out of 10 times, this is your CFO. Someone in your C suite with a vested interest in taking action on business intelligence needs to step up and lead the initiative. Ultimately, BI is meant to gain clarity in decision-making, which isn’t an IT initiative—it’s a core business function.

Aspiring Data Analyst | Advanced Excel | Power BI | I Present Insights to Businesses from big data | Google Business Intelligence Certified
Excited to share my latest Power BI project! Working with this interesting dataset from Maven Analytics has been a fantastic learning experience. This project allowed me to explore and practice new techniques in Power BI, uncovering various insights along the way. There's still plenty of scope for deeper analysis and discovering even more interesting patterns. Check out the attached project summary and the dashboard here https://lnkd.in/dXH6Kg_k Analysis Assumptions and Data Handling ========================= * Outlier Removal: 1. Eliminated records with unusually long durations in outpatient, ambulatory, inpatient, and emergency encounters to maintain data integrity. 2. Filtered 2022 data while finding growth % for accurate and meaningful analysis, as there are only January and February data for patient admissions. * Blank Values Handling: Replaced blank values with 'N/A' or 'No info.' * Admissions & Re-admission Definition: Defined admissions as hospital stays of 15 hours or more and re-admissions as any subsequent admission within 30 days of the previous admission, regardless of encounter class. =========================== Big thanks to Maven Analytics for this opportunity! 🧼 I love cleaning... ... data 😉 To prepare a dataset on layoffs throughout the world for analysis, I cleaned up the data by: 1. creating a duplicate of the raw data (just incase of mistakes in transformation) 2. removed duplicate rows 3. standardized the data 4. addressed null and blank values 5. removed unnecessary columns and rows Check out these data cleaning skills on my portfolio website 💻 https://lnkd.in/gR3ZeQUU Thank you to @AlexFreberg, aka #AlexTheAnalyst, for the assist in this project 👍 #datacleaning
