Everyone who works in Epic knows how hard it is to actually land a job supporting the application. I have, all around about 10 years of Epic Support. But I have always worked as a contractor. So that means that I, of course have no Certs in Epic. With that being said, I work with all these contractors with the broken promises of being told that the client that I am supporting will get you certified after going fulltime. I go fulltime and it never happens, when brought up or discussed it is shut down. Getting an Epic Cert is not possible to do without a client supporting you. I was top analyst for several years doing Epic Support, helping with Elbow support, supporting command centers when needed. One company, I was employed with thought that I was good enough to get certified in another EHR, but did not want to expense anything towards a Epic Cert. I was an employee who made myself very open for whatever was needed. I worked long hours, I would work a 10 hour shift, go home for 4 hours, clock back in and do another shift. I worked almost all holidays, I was a fill in for where ever there was a gap in staffing. I was there. My stats was ranking number one of 3 teams in a whole, I was cross trained in multiple accounts. I was damn good at my job. I out performed anyone, and did it flawlessly. I am the prime example of someone giving their all to a company to be let down. I was let go due to a misunderstanding. A multi-million dollar company let me go over a $849.66 misunderstanding. I was devastated. That was my perfect job, since then I have not been able to find one that I have loved as much as I did that one. I need advice, help, reach out, I want to get back in to a career like that again. I have been looking but it seem almost impossible. What can someone like me, who has no certs, go back to supporting Epic again? #epic #epicjourney #epicjobs #epicsupprt #work #openforwork #epichyperspace #EHR

I help PMO leaders accomplish more in less time with streamlined processes and portfolio tools | Healthcare IT professional | Hospital information systems expert
Epic just introduced "Epic Showroom". What is it?... All of the services that you can hire Epic to do is now nicely consolidated on their public-facing webpage. Details about their "Boost" program (hire an Epic employee as a consultant), who they've partnered with for new technologies (e.g., Nuance's 'DAX' tool, for ambient clinical documentation), and even a *coming soon* section for things not yet announced. Let me know, is there anything on the list that looks interesting? (I'm especially interested in third-party billing services. Wouldn't it be great to never need another interface/extract for another group's billers?...) Link in the comments below. 👇 ___ Follow me Timothy Morgan for more posts about project management and health information technology.

I never thought this would happen to me... We've all either heard this or said it, and in my case, I am having to do the latter. For the last 14 years I was gainfully employed by Texas children's Hospital in Houston TX. which was by far the greatest experience of my professional career. I gained experience in IT Healthcare as an Epic EHR analyst, and workflow Expert with the Epic training team...my "family". Then it happened... August 7th 2024. I, along with almost 1,000 other employees were laid off. They got everybody...my manager, my old manager, and key people in Epic production; not to mention frontline healthcare providers. As an ardent capitalist, I understand that when a company isn't making money, it has to make these types of decisions, but that does not make it feel any better. So what now? Getting laid off stinks. but it's not the end of the world. I think the first hurdle besides looking for a new position is 1. Realizing it's not your fault. 2. You are not alone 3. look at the positives... any positives! 4. Don't project the future i.e. "no one's going to hire me!" and 5. Don't make decisions with your emotions. Over emotionalizing decisions may lead to you taking "A" position and not "The" position. One you'll be happy with and not feel stuck in.

If you're an Epic expert, but feel stuck in a hamster wheel, check out this new role with Incisive Consultants. Apparently, an even more extreme version of the 80/20 rule applies to sales and referral generation. 80% of our business comes from referrals and 90% of our referrals come from 10% of our employees. And we know why that is...nobody likes to feel like they are being used and there's not much transparency during the process. We are hiring someone to resolve this. It will be their job to ensure this process is collaborative, transparent and rewarding, and not just for the Type A personalities. The more successful this person is, the less salespeople we need as we continue scaling. This translates to lower bill rates to our clients, more opportunities for our consultants, and more money passed on to the Epic experts who are making healthcare better.
