🌟 Professional Wellness Month: Prioritizing Your Health and Happiness🌟 No job is worth dying for or over. Yet, too often, we find ourselves in toxic work environments, facing bullying from underperforming, jealous, and incapable leaders or colleagues. This not only impacts our mental and physical health but also creates a cycle of trauma that we carry with us, often projecting it onto others. I have spoken to many friends and colleagues who have also left toxic work environments broken, traumatized, and mentally and physically sick. I have recently resigned from my position to save myself as I was finding myself and my health suffering. Our bodies keep score of the abuse and workplace trauma we experience at the hands of a leader or colleague who is sick, abusive, and unhinged. You cannot heal in the same environment where you got sick. As we observe Professional Wellness Month, let's take a stand for our well-being. Here are a few steps to prioritize your health: 1. Recognize Toxicity: Identify and acknowledge unhealthy work dynamics. 2. Set Boundaries: Set clear boundaries to protect your mental and physical space. 3. Seek Support: Contact trusted colleagues, mentors, or mental health professionals. 4. Seek Medical Attention: Consult your physician and request paperwork to start FMLA. 5. Plan Your Exit: Strategize your departure from toxic environments for a healthier future. 6. Practice Self-Care: Incorporate activities that nurture your well-being into your daily routine. 7. Empower Yourself: You deserve a healthy, supportive work environment. Let’s break the cycle of trauma and create a workplace culture that values health, respect, and genuine support. No one deserves to stay in hostile, abusive, or toxic work environments.
