What does the future hold for the Internet if policymakers and corporations don't grasp the (sometimes unintended) consequences of their decisions? "It is hard to describe how much the world has changed as a result of [the Internet]. But because it has changed so much, it’s very easy for people who are making [rules about the Internet] to forget that what they are doing could have negative consequences." - Andrew Sullivan, Internet Society President and CEO Andrew Sullivan and Sally Costerton, Interim President and CEO of ICANN, discuss on the SHIFT podcast by PRX: https://lnkd.in/gtpX7kAs #InternetFuture #InternetFragmentation

I had a nice talk with the great musician Michael Feuerstack and we dove into a number of subjects covered on his new album, "Eternity Mongers,' including why all of us might've started saying things like, "It is what it is." That part of the conversation was prompted by his new song, "What Isn't What It Is,' which made me laugh when I read its title, but our interview got me thinking about it more deeply. "At the end of the day," this episode of Kreative Kontrol is available below and is what it is on every podcast platform.

We just had to share this awesome quote about financial intelligence from musician Alanis Morrisette from The New York Times: “I had the pleasure of interviewing Howard Gardner (an American developmental psychologist), who came up with the multiple intelligence theory, for my podcast, and I asked him if I could add some intelligences. I think financial intelligence is an intelligence. It feels like activism to be a female empowered around money and knowledgeable around it, and to be entering into the seat of entrepreneurialism.” https://lnkd.in/gEAf49fV #FinancialIntelligence #WomenAndWealth #FinancialFreedom #FinancialLiteracy #FinancialEducation

NEW PODCAST! 🎙📡🔮🤖 Joe Allen discusses his book Dark Aeon and how he thinks that this idea of gnosticism as the all-encompassing boogeyman and blanket-term for everything one dislikes is misconstrued. Throughout history gnostic groups have differed with each other. This obsession with gnosis particularly becomes problematic and unhealthy when transferred into conspiracy culture. The idea that some today promote of Marxism or wokism or transhumanism as just being gnosticism re-branded might be too simplistic, this conflation is cheap and wrongheaded. In some ways the goals of technocratic transhumanism clash with gnosticism. There should be distinctions between big tech, technocracy, transhumanism and gnosticism. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eruCntAg ⛑ DONATE TO GEOPOLITICS & EMPIRE https://lnkd.in/eQekZzSc 🗞 BECOME A PAID SUBSCRIBER ON SUBSTACK https://lnkd.in/d_82GS2g

Wow - this should be great! I've been learning about Donella Meadows, #degrowth and #doughnuteconomics through Terra.do's Climate fellowship program, where we are lucky to have Katy Shields as an instructor. Degrowth offers an alternative to continued economic growth - so that we don't gobble everything up and destroy ourselves. Described as a "radical theory" by the World Economic Forum, degrowth aims to stabilize economies in order to achieve socio-political equity and ecological sustainability. If you're interested in capitalism and the well-being of our planet, I highly recommend checking out this podcast. Get ideas, get inspired. P.S. You can now get a master's degree in degrowth at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB)!
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT! When a twice-Peabody nominated studio comes calling, you don't hesitate to answer. And when that studio is making a phenomenal and vital series about #Capitalism... well, you need little time to decide. It was a pleasure and privilege to create this special edit of our self-produced podcast series Tipping Point: The True Story of the Limits to Growth for #SceneonRadio, hosted by the wonderful John Biewen. In this 1-hour special episode we: - We tell the story of the how the prophetic 1972 MIT study came to be - We discuss its reception and the aftermath, incl attacks by economists - We end by sharing our own reflections on the study's impact - from the #planetaryboundaries to #doughnuteconomics and #degrowth ... As Doughnut Economics founder Kate Raworth often says - most people talk about #Capitalism without even knowing what it is. After this series, there should be no excuse. 💡 Tip: binge-listen now through the first nine episodes ahead of next week's finale: where we can go from here! With special thanks to my amazingly talented co-creator Vegard Beyer as well as to co-host Ellen McGirt, producer Loretta Williams and sound editor Anna Magdalino. Nuestro Studios, a division of Nuestro Stories, has launched the historical fiction podcast series 'Bistec', a cautionary tale set in Dystopian Cuba. The eight-part limited series delves into faith, patriotic fanaticism, and surveillance, inspired by stories from Cuba's notorious Comités de Defensa de la Revolución. 'Bistec' follows a longtime Cuban Revolutionary whose life unravels when a prominent dissident moves into his neighborhood, exposing secrets and testing loyalties. Set during the 50th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution in 2009, it unveils the contemporary world of Cuba's enigmatic surveillance system within a compelling narrative filled with unexpected twists. 'Even though Bistec is rooted in Cuba, it is the story of MILLIONS of people who have no rights to privacy, and whose lives and very souls are subject to the whims of a Totalitarian state,' said series creator Manuel Ruiz-Barrera. The series boasts a talented cast, including actors, musicians, and producers with extensive credits. It features a musical score composed by nine-time EMMY-winning Maestro Alberto Bade, performed by the University of Miami Orchestra. #podcasts #historicalfiction #cuba #dystopia @nuestrostories @bistec.film @omnipoeta @jawndarko @lauratermini @albertobade

It is so important for ALL of us to see the value of classical education. One main obstacle to drawing my community in is when we talk about classical education without acknowledging the racist history around it and even the racism that has plagued Christianity in America. These things are so prevalent and intertwined, often creating such a kudzu that trips people up from engaging with it. In this podcast (I rarely and randomly add episodes to my podcast Kush Classics), I talk through the challenges facing diverse populations from coming to this tradition. Simply saying to "forget the past" without facing the history around the Western Tradition only alienates people from it. Discussing these things helps to create a welcoming place for more diverse populations to engage with it. So instead of writing a blog, here is the podcast episode! https://lnkd.in/egJfS7Ge
Classical Education is NOT Christian or Conservative
