Night work in the city that never sleeps! What better way to spend Friday night than pouring 75lb/cuft CJFill-Under Water as part of a tar pit mitigation project in Brooklyn? Most of the pit was filled with gravel, but needed a cap, and then a floor slab. To minimize the likelihood of inducing settlement, the designer specified a low density cap material, instead of traditional CLSM. While the vast majority of cellular concrete is around 25 or 30 lb/cuft, water infiltration and a need for permeability less than 10^-6 cm/sec drove the density selection for this specific project.
CJGeo used onsite dry batch to generate the material, so didn't have to bother with ready mix night opening fees. #environmentalremediation #buildingconstruction #structuralengineering
