Writer & storyteller. I use LinkedIn primarily to advertise my complete unemployability and ensure I don't accidentally end up with a job.
Hollywood movies rarely contain a subtext because Hollywood audiences rarely notice subtext. Take the original TopGun. The gayest subtext in any mainstream blockbuster movie, and millions upon millions of chads love the movie and never notice, even after Tarantino made it a joke. So Denis Villeneuve is a rare director who could succeed not just in weaving Paul-As-Psychopath into the subtext of DUNE, but also managing to get mainstream audiences to notice and THINK about such a complex theme. Modern storytelling does the same thing over and over again. It presents "heroes" who are clearly psychopathic *cough* John Wick *cough* Batman *cough* and then provides a motivation to justify that psychopathy...IE makes them the "good guy". But life doesn't contain good guys and bad guys. So I'm genuinely impressed with the complexity of the discussion about heroes and leaders sparked by Dune. It bodes well for the recovery of our modern mythos. Of course a small minority missed the subtext completely...I'm guessing it's the same folks who missed "you can be my wingman"... https://lnkd.in/gvUHm26h You all who know me won't be surprised by this, but when I meet a stranger and small talk gets to "What is your favorite movie?" they are often surprised when I answer "Avengers: Endgame". Most people answer that question with deep think-piece movies. The thing I love so much about Marvel is that they are both deep, fun and have amazing fight choreography. Endgame is a fantastic exploration of how successful people deal with failure. It is brilliant that each Avenger responds in a way both true to their established character but also distinct. (I would love to think that I would Captain America it, but I absolutely saw myself in Black Widow's need to do something, anything to try to help make things right.) I love this trailer for Thunderbolts. Besides an unbelievably great Cast, the question of "I have trained for this my whole life. Is this all there is?" is so fundamentally part of life. I can't wait to see this cast of characters respond to both existential crises and physical altercations with their unique skills, talents and backstory.

Logline: Three friends gain supernatural abilities and they use them to make changes to the political system through deceit, manipulation, and murder. This is a dramatic scene with explicit language. My partner and I set out to produce an independent TV pilot. It took us one year of pre-production, one year of production, and two years of post production. We had no budget, but we did own all of the equipment. I am most proud of this pilot out of everything I’ve done, including my Netflix credits, feature films with named actors, sketch comedy, etc. We screened our pilot multiple times to a limited audience with the conclusive feedback that everyone wanted to watch more. A composer in Europe saw the project and loved it so much that he created a complete original score for free. It took us 45 days of active filming, and 8 days of ADR. We edited the entire 55 minute cut and did the full color grade as well as the audio engineering. When I say we, I am referring to two people only ; my partner (director / gaffer / cinematographer/ writer ) and myself. I am so grateful for this experience. I’ve never been one to wait for opportunity. I believe in the work. I don’t need anyone to validate my art or my passion. I am content with the fact that I continue to grow in my craft daily. We currently have investors interested in funding the entirety of season one and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Hardwork always pays off. Never give up on yourself. #filmmaking #filmproduction #independentfilm

Calling Industrial Light & Magic, DNEG, MPC, Framestore How long are we going to put up with film studios covering up what we do and not allowing us to show what we did? You know, I know, we all know, this train fight is as "practical" as the light-cycle scene in Tron Legacy. It's not sustainable. As long as we put up with this, we are eating our own tail. World VFX Day is coming up. Let's talk about it. https://lnkd.in/eaw9kNMV #worldvfxday

The difference between a dream and a goal is the action you take. Film has taught me that if you want something enough, have the drive to push through the most difficult obstacles, you can accomplish anything you want. The team I work with and I have so many ideas for shows and films. We don’t have every part of the process figured out. But guess what. No one ever knows exactly what they’re doing. It’s okay to not know the answer. But it is not okay to not have a plan. Even if the plan fails, you at least take action and learn what not to repeat. Two of my biggest inspirations are George Lucas and Stan Lee. Neither of them knew exactly what they were doing and at times learned the hard way. Now, they’re household names and crafted universes (or galaxies) that everyone knows. They didn’t sit on their dreams. They actively chased them to make their dreams a goal and their goals a reality. Don’t look at failure as a setback. Look at it as a redirection #Film #Motivation #TV #Production #Business
