The US #health and #healthcare insurance system is often criticized for being overly complex with too many choices. This complexity and abundance of options leads to confusion for consumers and makes it difficult to 'comparison shop' for the best plan. However, others argue that more choice and competition is better for consumers. My article at the link examines both sides of this debate. Where I come out is that we must significantly reduce the volume of choices and simplify plans for all parties. This is mainly because under all 18 major categories shown on the chart below, there are 10’s, and in some case 100’s, of plan sub-options and choices and this creates enormous levels of complexity and confusion, not to mention wasted time and money. Yet again, what a fabulous opportunity for #entrepreneurs and #intrapreneurs to reimagine US #insurance and who is covered specifically in the network and how, and perhaps apply many more of the #digitalhealth & #virtualcare solutions and options that are now available to us all. The chart below shows the already many large #insurance headings for US #healthcare -underneath this are hundreds and hundreds of individual policies - this is complex and needs #innovation to change!
