It's a day of collective global activism and celebration that belongs to all those committed to forging women's equality.  World-renowned feminist, journalist and activist, Gloria Steinem, reportedly once explained: "The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organisation but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights." Today, on International Women's Day, while we celebrate the work and achievements of women, let's also make sure we take a moment to reflect on the history - and the ongoing need - of this day. The idea was first proposed by Clara Zetkin in 1911 to press for women's demands. Since then, progress has been made, but there is still much work to be done. Women are still not paid equally to their male counterparts, and women are not present in equal numbers in business or politics. Globally, women's education, health, and the violence against them is worse than that of men. While we celebrate the achievements of well-deserving women today, let's also ask the profiling organizations to be accountable for their efforts. How specifically have they worked towards advancing gender equity since #IWD2023? We want concrete examples to celebrate these activities with you and create role model opportunities for others to make meaningful progress between now and #IWD2025.
