INI Design Studio’s Post

Word of the Week - Liminality Liminality is the quality of ambiguity or transition that occurs in threshold spaces, creating a sense of in-betweenness. At INI Design Studio, we celebrate liminality as a powerful design tool to transform boundaries into connections, thresholds into opportunities, and transitions into experiences. The Development of Dharoi Dam Region explores liminality by transforming the river embankments into vibrant public spaces. Soft, green edges blur the boundary between land and water, creating promenades with walking paths, cycling tracks, and play areas that bring people closer to nature. The project’s carefully planned zones—from floating cottages and luxury resorts to botanical gardens and adventure parks—embody the fluid transition between leisure, ecology, and cultural significance, enhancing the region's identity as a sustainable tourism destination. In the Visakhapatnam Beachfront Redevelopment, liminality occurs in the seamless connection between land and sea. The redesigned retaining wall is no longer a barrier but a dynamic space where stepped seating and ramps invite interaction with the water's edge. The continuous 14-km cycling track further enhances this transitional realm, uniting diverse urban, ecological, and recreational zones into a cohesive, active beachfront, fostering resilience and engagement. At INI Design Studio, we believe that liminal spaces hold the power to transform experiences, bridging divides while enhancing connections. We transform ambiguity into purpose through thoughtful design, creating spaces that resonate with identity, resilience, and community. #WordOfTheWeek #Liminality #INIExperience #VisakhapatnamBeachfrontRedevelopment #DharoiDamDevelopment #ThresholdDesign #SustainableTourism #InitiateWithINI
