I look forward to discussing the aerospace and defense path that Enduralock has taken over the last few years and some of the technologies that we have developed.
Next week at the worlds' largest R&D aerospace event we have a special treat to get up close and personal with the disruptors leading material innovations in aerospace. Please check out X-MAT, Enduralock, Vaya Space, and Lithoz and meet our disruptors, Bill Easter, Harold Hess, Kineo Wallace, and Beth Bornick! Sponsored by the Materials "TC" Technical Committee, Innovation Subcommittee Startup Panel, my fellow colleagues, Reed Kopp, Jessica Piness, Richard Li, and Jingyao Dai. American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Scitech Conference in Orlando Florida, January 8-12.

The Astra board’s believed the take-private deal was “the only alternative” to filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Astra recorded more than $750 million in net losses since announcing it would go public in 2021 via a SPAC. The San Francisco-area company, incorporated in 2016, once aimed to mass produce small rockets and conduct launches as often as daily. Since its stock debut, Astra’s rockets reached orbit twice – but the company also suffered three launch failures. Its rocket-launching business has been on hiatus since a June 2022 mission failure. Despite acquiring a spacecraft propulsion business, the company was unable able to drive meaningful quarterly revenue and conducted layoffs last year in a bid to survive. The company recorded more than $750 million in net losses since announcing it would go public. #space #spacetech #innovation https://lnkd.in/eYQyVt3t

FR Space habitats, energy generation & storage, & ISRU -"The French space agency CNES has announced a partnership with Spartan Space, the Institute of Space Medicine and Physiology (MEDES), and the sporting goods retailer Decathlon to develop a European intra-vehicular activity (IVA) spacesuit. Marseille-based startup Spartan Space has been selected by CNES as the project’s prime contractor. Teams from the four organizations began discussions for the project in December 2023 at Decathlon’s research and development centre in Lille. Development of the spacesuit is currently underway, with the delivery of a prototype expected in 2024. The prototype will, according to CNES, represent “an elegant synthesis of expertise and collective innovation.” “With the European ambition to contribute to future space missions with its own crews, France, with its skills and technological know-how, wishes to contribute to this growth by notably offering an IVA (Intra-Vehicular Activities) space suit,” Deputy Director of Exploration and Human Flights at CNES Sebastien Barde explained in a statement. The CNES IVA spacesuit initiative is being carried out as part of the agency’s Spaceship FR project. Spaceship FR was initiated in 2018 as a vehicle to lay the groundwork for future crewed missions to the Moon and Mars in several domains, including habitats, energy generation and storage, and in-situ resource utilization." International Markets Communications Lead at GE Aerospace; Co-author, A Question of Trust by Pan Macmillan; Director, Saptasajya Foundation
As communicators, we are used to getting a preview of the 'moment' before it really happens. We get to see the cool new product before bloggers get it for their 'unboxing' videos, we read books before their pre-launch bookings start online and we get to rehearse a 'reveal' or 'spectacle' ahead of time, in the dead of night, when no one is watching except a lucky (or unlucky) few of us. But nothing prepared me for the moment on April 2, 2024 when GE Aerospace took over the #GE ticker on NYSE. Images of celebration poured in from around the world as #GEAerospace employees in Shanghai, Singapore, Bengaluru, Dubai, Torino, Wales and Queretaro watched the bell-ringing ceremony accompanied by two spectacular drones shows in New York and Bengaluru. We had launched a new company with a 105-year aviation history and we had inherited the legacy of a 132-year-old iconic brand! For me personally, it was the end of a transformation journey that started in late 2021. Two-and-half years of hard, and sometimes very emotional, work. Part of that work was not even related to my core expertise of communications but important work necessary to get us ready for #LaunchDay A few days later, today I am excited to look ahead and toward the sky, high above the horizon! Excited about the opportunity to connect with new audiences - audiences who know, trust, admire or love us. And to convert those who don't. More importantly, excited about our mission to invent the future of flight, lift people up and bring them home safely! A hat tip to everyone in #GE and #GEAerospace who made launch day possible. #WeAreGo #NewEraOfFlight
