Happy #WorldSleepDay 🛌 How are you going to sleep tonight? Alcohol is always talked about as something to avoid for a better night's sleep, but to me, it was THE reason I stopped having a drink on an evening. I always thought the 6.30 glass of wine or a G&T would be out of my system by bedtime. Just one drink can cause interrupted sleep so you don't have the restorative REM quality sleep your brain needs to detoxify. Alcohol is also a diuretic, causing trips to the loo - again interrupting restorative sleep/sleep cycles. It disrupts our hormones responsible for circadian rhythm AND - if you're experiencing nightly hot flushes, it will make them a lot worse 🔥 There are lots of reasons to avoid alcohol if you're looking to improve your sleep - why don't you see how much better you feel tomorrow by knocking wine o'clock on the head? You're not giving something up, you're giving yourself the gift of a great night's sleep. 😴 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I am a Positive Psychology Coach and Counsellor who helps grey area drinkers address their relationship with alcohol and unpick what is stopping them from moving forward with their lives. My specialist areas include identity, relationship issues (especially with alcohol), attachment patterns and building resilience when life throws you a curve ball. If you’d like to talk or find out more about how I work, you can contact me by any of the following: Website: www.raft.coach where you can book a call or session (prices on the website).
