Its been long! Here are my top two cents on enterprise platform services for now. 1. Enterprises are moving away from a "large platform provider". Some niche platform providers will grow faster than ever. Many enterprises (specifically BFSI and HLS) have invested heavily on a specific tech provider but are yet to realize the planned value/outcome per their initial business case. Over years, the provider has "sold" multiple products continuing to promise the value with an integrated suite of products. Now, many enterprises have decided to make the move, they plan to reduce their spend over time and move to another vendor (if not entirely, at least half the spend). However, the incumbent is playing a price tactic, increasing the license fee significantly (in some cases, by close to 20%). We are now guiding the enterprises build a right-fit platforms architecture, benchmark platforms spend, and create a new business case. 2. There exists three industries and three countries/regions that will be hot beds for growth in the near term. Prioritizing and identifying the right accounts will be critical. In the recent past, we did an interesting analysis for some service/technology providers and PE firms to identify the right bets for the near term. Our partial approach > we analyzed 5,000+ large platforms deals (>US$1 million) across platform areas such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, Pega, ServiceNow and beyond between 2019-2023. We mapped avg. TCV by year, TCV across geographies/industries, % of deals across geographies/industries. We mapped the pre-COVID, COVID, post-COVID trends and found interesting insights. We identified three industries and three countries/regions to be the most preferred bets. Note: Investment and focus on specific industry/region will also need to be evaluated along with growth aspirations and current investments/synergies.
