We are proud to launch Innovations InView, a new series featuring members of our professional talent network who share their inspiring career success stories. It’s immensely rewarding to reunite with Kara Gustafson, one of Innovations PSI’s former placement candidates. Over twenty years ago, Innovations PSI both hired her and then placed her at Goldman Sachs – one of our premier clients in San Francisco – where she spent 15 years at the firm, eventually moving to the Office of the CEO. Our placement at Goldman in 2003 set the path for Kara’s future career in the Financial Services industry. She ultimately became part of the founding leadership team responsible for launching Goldman’s Corporate Engagement and Impact Investing business in 2008, which invested over $2 billion of philanthropic and impact capital in inclusive growth initiatives globally. Over the course of 20+ years, Kara has built a successful career, leading key Corporate Sustainability and Philanthropic functions for institutions such as the The Aspen Institute and SoulCycle Inc., and numerous non-profit organizations. We are so very proud of Kara and her accomplishments. For almost 4 decades, Innovations PSI has helped launch and positively impact thousands of careers, and we look forward to continuing to deliver results for years to come. After 35+ years of navigating career transitions, I’ve learned that success comes down to these five essentials: - Passion - It’s what drives you through the highs and lows. Without it, the journey becomes a grind. - Contribution - Make an impact from day-one. Your expertise should immediately fuel the organization’s growth. - Culture - If your culture and the company’s culture don’t align, success is hard to sustain. It’s a two-way street; both sides need to connect for it to work. - Growth - Every role is a chance to learn and evolve. It’s about ongoing development, not just reaching a destination. - Compensation - Get the first four right, and this will follow naturally. These lessons have shaped how I approach every opportunity and are key to “Accelerating Growth” within an organization. 👉 Watch the full video below. === QHP Capital A private equity firm specializing in life sciences, dedicated to investing in innovative companies that drive advancement across the healthcare value chain. #privateequity #mergersandaquisitionsanddivestitures #alternativeinvestments

Unite to elevate! We can't do it alone. Something that’s proven true for me throughout my career is that I learn better in a group. That’s part of why having a network of excellent peers to lean on and learn from has always been so valuable to me. Take the folks I was with at YPO last week: When we met up in Minnesota last week for the #privateequity forum, I found myself learning more precisely because there are such a great group of professionals bouncing ideas and advice off of each other. Thanks to Christian Wenger Jack Bittan Kevin Hackler Kevin McArdle Mitchell Davidson Richard Fitzgerald Marshall Johnson 🔘 How I build strong relationships: 🔘 Attending the fantastic YPO events 🔘 Engaging with passionate like like-minded peers. 🔘 Creating ties with mentors and allies. I know I’ll be taking this into account the next time we undertake a learning initiative with my own team! Learning is best when we do it together. Remember: Success is a team sport. Invest in people, not just opportunities. Together, we rise! What's your next step to elevate your network? ------------------------------------------------------------------ I talk about these things on LinkedIn: 📈 #Strategy & how we implement it effectively. 🌍 #innovation the next big business opportunity. 👥 #Community, building connections that drive success. 🔍 Interested in these insights? The end of summer can be an exciting time for companies as they welcome new colleagues and recent graduates to their teams. Eric J. Mogelof, Partner at KKR, recently reflected on the early days of his career and the lessons he wishes he had known back then. Mogelof highlights the importance of understanding your company's mission and how your role contributes to it, advising: "Using the company's mission as your North Star will make you more effective." The most important thing to keep in mind, he says, is who you really work for: your customers. "We ultimately work for our clients," Mogelof writes. "If you focus on delivering value to your clients, great things will happen in your career." Read his full post here: https://lnkd.in/dUT7CBJB What valuable lessons have you learned in your career that you wish you had known earlier? Share them in the comments below. ✍🏻: Jessica Oliveira Lee

During a recent luncheon with DSK management, a group of young and ambitious students sought advice on navigating their career paths. In response, I committed to sharing insights gleaned from Handelsblatt's recent analysis of the trajectories of the DAX Executives. Here is my 7 Steps synthesis: 1. Prioritize loyalty: Half of these leaders advanced through the company ranks. 2. Birth and academic excellence matters: Many hail from middle/upper-class backgrounds, pursuing business studies, obtaining an MBA abroad, with a PhD and management consulting experience as notable assets. 3. Navigate international experiences wisely: Assignments outside the home country benefit your career, but thy are a double edged sword. Make sure to leave a lasting impression at and on headquarters. 4. Cultivate the right personality: Master managing contradictions, foster trust within teams without becoming overly chummy. 5. Know what you don't know and delegate. 6. Be ready to seize opportunities promptly: “Immediate readiness to capitalize on opportunities is paramount. When a compelling offer emerges, the luxury of requesting a three-week deliberation is not an option” 7. Effectively manage your energy, maintaining a passion for your work. Following these steps does not guarantee success, even if you come from a middle-class German family. Clearly, for many they were enough to get to the top (in past) and stay on top (in the present) but may not be enough in the future (we are at the Turning Point of the Software and Digital Age). My advice to „future-proof” your career is a modification of Step 5: Know what you do not know and DEVELOP YOURSELF!

It's the last week of June; a prime opportunity for reflection. For me, the last week is always about taking stock of the past month, identifying what changes need to be made, and enhancing what’s already working. It’s a chance to strive for betterment in all aspects of my life – for my family, community, organization, and clients. This period is also crucial for reviewing our products and services, ensuring they are the best they can be for both the candidates and our clients. Embracing change and stepping out of our comfort zones can unveil new opportunities and pathways. Reflection requires a thorough internal and external evaluation. It might be daunting, but it's essential for growth and innovation. #LinkedInCommunity #BSG #BusinessMindset #BusinessGrowth

After an incredible four and a half years as a partner at McKinsey & Company, I have made the decision to embark on a new journey. I am departing from the firm to dedicate my time and efforts to transforming Latin America's silver economy and fostering a more inclusive region. Throughout these enriching 54 months, I had the privilege of learning from friends and colleagues at the world's most prestigious professional services organization. More significantly, I was able to leverage their expertise to serve clients and contribute to holistic impact, all in pursuit of a better and more inclusive world. Additionally, I cultivated enduring friendships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and corners of the globe. My co-founders, investors, and I share the conviction that Latin America must evolve into a more inclusive region for those who have significantly shaped the world we inhabit. With the region entering the peak of its demographic bonus, it will encounter the challenges and opportunities presented by a rapidly growing 50+ demographic, particularly in countries like Mexico, where it is expanding four times faster than the rest of the population. We see these challenges as opportunities for growth. As this demographic expands, its share of consumption is projected to rise, comprising almost half of all out-of-pocket expenditure. Recognizing their distinct characteristics and needs, industries such as banking, consumer packaged goods, and entertainment, among others, will need to transform their offerings to cater to this demographic effectively. These are the challenges that I am eager to address in the next chapter of my professional life. While I can't divulge many details at this stage, I promise to keep you updated on this exciting new venture.

We're passionate about creating and nurturing thriving Communities. These efforts are led by a diverse and talented workforce, and our Emerging Talent Programme is a key part of that. This programme is designed to help graduates like Greg Milburn grow and excel in their careers. Greg joined Places for People as a Graduate Built Environment Research Lead and recently transitioned to an Asset Planning Analyst role. On how the programme supported his development, he explained: “My professional abilities have improved as a result of the programme, and I can now advise the organisation with clarity in my proposals. Being my first professional role after graduating from university, I’ve found that the programme gives you the chance to build these abilities over time in a non-pressurised environment. “Emerging Talent provides you with opportunities that you don’t get everywhere, presenting to our CEO and directors within the first year was a personal highlight for me, certainly something you don’t get to do every day! Thanks to the exposure of the Emerging Talent programme with Places for People, I have had the opportunity to turn my ideas into actions. “I think this shows their commitment and intention to motivate and encourage graduates as the next generation of leaders.” With an eye on the future, our Emerging Talent Programme provides ambitious graduates with opportunities to flourish, thrive and grow. If you’re looking to kickstart your career journey and would like to apply for our Emerging Talent Programme, hiring is underway until 10th April 2024.
