ITD Industries Inc. and Nikola Corporation, take a significant step in helping the decarbonization of Canada’s busiest commercial transportation area. Yesterday marked an important milestone in Canada’s shift to zero-emissions commercial transportation. ITD Industries Inc. and Nikola Corporation have combined efforts to launch Canada’s first operational 700 bar commercial fueling station for Class 8 hydrogen trucks.. The station, located at ITD Industries’ headquarters in Etobicoke, ON, was inaugurated in the presence of Hon. Doug Ford, Premiere of Ontario, Hon. Sam Oosterhofff, Associate Minister of Energy and Intensive Industries and many other provincial and federal dignitaries, business leaders from Nikola Corporation, Walmart Canada, Canadian Tire Corporation, Loblaw Companies Limited among other members of the clean energy, retail and transportation communities. The ITD Energy hydrogen fueling station is situated at 161 The West Mall, a pivotal location of Ontario’s logistical corridor in close proximity to Highway 401, Highway 427 and the Queen Elizabeth Highway (QEW). This station, the first of many ITD Energy is planning to unveil, will pave the way for decarbonizing Canada’s busiest transport network and meet the fueling needs of the Nikola hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles distributed by ITD Industries for the Canadian market. The ITD Energy hydrogen fueling station uses a 700-bar pressure-fill system—allowing hydrogen fuel supplied to be compressed and dispensed into onboard storage for long-range vehicles like the Nikola Class-8 trucks. Along with partners such as the Canadian Hydrogen Association (CHA) and other private and public organizations, ITD Industries and Nikola, are spearheading the transformation of Ontario and Canada’s commercial transportation sector towards a carbon-free future. The presence of Premier Ford and other distinguished public and private figures, underlines and validates the importance of this station launch to the future of long-haul carbon-free commercial transportation. This station is the first of several ITD is planning on erecting across Ontario with Nikola Motors as we aim to build a hydrogen fueling corridor connecting Windsor to Montreal. ITD Energy is a subsidiary of ITD Industries, a decades old trailer manufacturer that has transformed itself into a catalyst for sustainable commercial transportation solutions in Canada with its distribution agreement for Nikola battery and hydrogen Class-8 trucks, as well as with the manufacturing partnership with ZO MOTORS株式会社 for medium duty electric trucks. The event was possible thanks to the kind contribution of Fasken, Atura Power and Enbridge.

Congratulations to the ITD and Nikola teams. The launch of this fueling station should be the catalyst for what’s needed to drive this important sustainability solution forward in Ontario. We have a long road ahead as an industry and more collaboration between private and public sectors will help all of us. Thanks to all involved!
