25+yrs experience obtaining software patents for 100+clients understanding needs of tech companies & challenges faced; clients range, groundlevel startups, universities, MNCs trusting me to craft global patent portfolios
Want to 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻? Continuation patent applications can help to achieve this goal, while providing other benefits as well. Obtaining 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲 patents for an innovation doesn't have to cost a multiple of the expense incurred to obtain the 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 patent on that innovation. When filing a continuation of an initial patent, the specification and drawings from the initial patent are reused. A significant proportion of the legal fees (and translation fees, when applicable) charged for a patent application are associated with creating the specification and drawings. As a result, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. As each continuation application is filed, the average cost of filing each patent application in the family goes down. Lowering your average cost of patent acquisition can have a variety of benefits: • 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗼 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: The size and scope of a patent portfolio often directly influence its valuation. By acquiring patents more cost-effectively, companies can enhance their intellectual property ROI, making them more attractive to investors and potential partners. • 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀: A growing patent portfolio increases the financial and logistical burden on competitors seeking to avoid infringement or challenge the validity of your patents. This can act as a deterrent against litigation and invalidation attempts, and grease the wheels for patent licensing and sales. • 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: A robust patent portfolio, acquired cost-effectively, positions a company as a leader in innovation within its industry, enhancing its reputation and potentially leading to market advantages. Is your patent strategy optimized for both protection maximization and cost efficiency? 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀. Aligning Your Business Strategy with Your Patent Strategy: A Roadmap to Success For innovative businesses, intellectual property (IP) is vital to long-term success. A strategic patent plan directly supporting your company's objectives safeguards your unique assets and drives maximum ROI. Key Building Blocks of an Effective Patent Strategy Define Your Strengths: Clearly understand your company's competitive advantage and where you stand out in the marketplace. Prioritize Impact: Focus patent applications on innovations essential to achieving your company's vision and boosting commercial success. Know Your Landscape: Competitor patent analysis and industry IP trends reveal both areas needing protection and where your innovations can surpass competitors. For instance, weak competitor IP in a key niche creates an opportunity for your breakthrough product. Purpose-Built Portfolio: Customize your patent strategy: Global vs. Regional: Plan international filings based on current and potential future markets. Offensive vs. Defensive: Assess litigation protection needs versus the potential for market leadership through aggressive patenting. The Cost-Benefit Factor: Approach patents as a calculated investment, weighing financial outlay against possible returns. Expert Insights are Key Successfully navigating patent law requires specialized knowledge. Work with experienced IP professionals to craft a strategy that aligns seamlessly with your business goals, freeing you to focus on innovation and strategic growth. Strategy Evolves with Your Business Your patent portfolio shouldn't be static. Regularly assess whether it effectively supports your evolving business model, making adjustments as needed. Worried whether your best ideas aren't protected? Schedule a free IP audit to uncover potential gaps. #innovation #intellectualproperty #businessstrategy #ipstrategy

Are you an inventor? then obtain patent for your inventions today. it will grant you exclusive rights to use your invention and also prevent other people from stealing your invention and using it as their own. However to obtain patent protection, your invention must be new, non obvious and industrially applicable. If you assess your invention and realise that it falls within the categories above, then quickly start the process of obtaining protection for it. It is always better to obtain protection for it when you do not need it because by the time an unscrupulous person infringes on your right by using your invention without your permission and you want to take legal action, it is mostly always too late to file for patent application. So there is a saying that Always obtain IP protection when you do not need it to prevent you from bearing the consequences when you actually need it. File for a patent application for your invention today and I assure you that you would never regret it. #wipo #intellectualproperty #patents #patentprotection. #aripo #patentsearch
