A safe work environment is about more than just preventing injuries or the spread of disease, it is about making employee well-being a priority within your organization. A safe workplace is one where employees feel secure. They feel valued and enjoy a safe space, company values, and a positive co-working environment that encourages respect for everyone.

I think the key words Brad Blaisdell, MBA uses here are knowledge and ability. Respect is often considered so common sense that we fail to recognize it is just as nuanced as anything else when it comes to people interacting in close proximity under stressful conditions. This week, I had the honor of hosting the Compassion Network Breakfast for the second time at the Commission. The event was organized by my BeWell colleagues in DG HR. It proved to be an enriching and inspiring gathering where participants shared their thoughts and ideas about self-awareness, compassion, and what it truly means to lead with compassion in our daily work. I’d like to take this opportunity to emphasize the crucial role compassion plays in the workplace, benefiting both individuals and organizations.
