The importance of AMBIGARD® XL transcends conventional coatings, defining a new era in surface protection. Here’s how to apply it: 1. Surface Preparation: Before applying Ambigard, ensure that all surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and free from loose materials. High-pressure water jet, grit blasting, or wire brushing can be used to achieve a clean substrate. Address any undulations or visible cracks by filling them with a pasty mixture of Ambigard. For wider cracks, cut V-grooves and fill with a cement-sand mortar admixed with Durabuild Acrylic Polymer. 2. Mixing & Application: Ambigard comes as a two-pack system with a 3:1 ratio (cementitious polymerized powder to liquid polymer). Mix the liquid polymer (Pack A) and powder (Pack B) gradually in a clean container, ensuring a lump-free and brushable consistency. Apply the mixed material on the saturated surface using a short stiff brush, and for larger areas, consider laying wet glass fabric. Apply a second coat after 4 to 7 hours, especially for areas subjected to loads or hydrostatic pressure. 3. Curing: After application, perform moist curing for 48 hours. Subsequently, allow the system to air cure for 3-4 days, protecting it from adverse weather conditions. Conduct a ponding test by filling water up to 50 mm height for 48 hours to verify a leak-free terrace. Protect the coating with a 1:6 Cement/Sand thick plaster with a desired slope. Traffic or water immersion can be resumed after 2-3 days, ensuring the system is adequately cured and protected.
