The World Health Organization (WHO) has introduced new global guidance to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR) fueled by pharmaceutical waste from antibiotic manufacturing. This pollution, largely unregulated, plays a significant role in the spread of AMR by releasing antibiotic residues into the environment, where bacteria can develop resistance.
