ZF is a partner in the European innovation ecosystem #FEDERATE! The mobility solutions of the future are setting new standards - not least in terms of development. In order to create better conditions for this in Europe, a consortium of 29 partners is building an ecosystem around the software-defined vehicle (SDV). They are working together to involve the entire value chain and network relevant players. 🌐 This year's CAR Symposium focused on transformation in the automotive industry. It was very interesting to see how experts from IT and the automotive industry came together to share their visions and challenges. At the end, there was also an exciting discussion on "Transformation through Digitalization" with Joachim Franz, Peter Fintl, Thomas Dannemann, Jan Becker and Tobias J. Nadjib. 🚗 In a rapidly evolving world, OEMs are at the forefront of innovation, especially when it comes to the integration of digital technologies. But this is also a major challenge: OEMs need to focus on what they do best - developing and manufacturing outstanding vehicles. 💡 Given the rapid advancements in IT and the dynamics of new competitors in the market, I believe it is a strategic necessity to seek partnerships with IT companies. These companies are agile, innovative and can accelerate the digital transformation by bringing in expertise that is often lacking in traditional automotive companies. 🤝 Partnerships with IT experts offer a unique opportunity: they allow OEMs to focus on their core competences while gaining a foothold in the digital world through the expertise of their partners. It's not about reinventing the wheel, but about using the best of both worlds to remain or become sustainable and innovative. 🔍 We need to recognize the opportunities that arise from such synergies. The #AEK 2024 provided insightful keynotes and panels. The slogan for this year was: #SDV : from Hype to Realization - Bringing #HW and #SW building blocks successfully onto the road. This event has triggered important stimulation and impulses to the Automotive industry and made valuable contribution in networking with existing and new business partners. Among the top moments of this event, I had the opportunity meeting with Stefan Werner and Jan-Friso Blacquière to enjoy an unique experience seating in our Software République concept car, the #H1stVISION Michael Anfang, during the panel with AUDI AG , BMW Group and ZF Group about secuing safe energy supply , has laid the emphasis on the importance of the innovation in the development time needed in the semiconductors industry focusing on collaboration, Agility and boldness. We have also promoted our partnership with Aurora Labs top managers, Zohar Fox and Roger Ordman , showcasing our #Stellar product collaborating with the #loci product and the Automotive OEMs, grabbing more and more interest in the field of #SDV. 👍 What a smart and important decision by Audi 🏆 To drive innovation and focus on software-defined vehicles (SDVs), AUDI AG has created a new Board of Management position for "Innovation and Software-Defined Vehicle" and appointed Geoffrey Bouquot to lead this critical business unit. This strategic move underscores Audi's commitment to accelerating development, increasing efficiency, and embracing a software-centric approach for its future vehicles. I see at least 2 positive outcomes of this decision for Audi. First: Audi Embracing the Software-Defined Future The automotive industry is undergoing a paradigm shift, with software becoming the driving force behind vehicle development and innovation. Software-defined vehicles offer unprecedented opportunities for seamless integration of cutting-edge technologies, personalization, and over-the-air updates, revolutionizing the driving experience. By establishing a dedicated SDV unit led by Geoffrey Bouquot, Audi is positioning itself at the forefront of this transformation. Bouquot's extensive experience in leading large software engineering teams, managing long-term innovations like AI and autonomous driving, and driving digital transformation at Valeo makes him the ideal candidate to spearhead Audi's software-defined vehicle strategy. Second: Audi Accelerating Innovation and Efficiency Audi's CEO, Gernot Döllner, emphasizes the importance of this move, stating, "Vorsprung durch Technik is our ambition, and innovation is the key to our fitness for the future. We need a thorough structural realignment to achieve a faster pace of development and a clear focus on software." By integrating software development into the core of its operations, Audi aims to streamline processes, increase efficiency, and rapidly bring cutting-edge technologies to market.
