I just surveyed the damage to our Insight Partners office and working on a plan to rebuild. I’ve never been in this situation but the following seems like a solid plan to me. Any suggestions please let me know. Here’s a 5-step action plan to rebuild your office while continuing to work after a major disaster: 1. Establish a Temporary Operations Center: Identify and secure a temporary workspace that allows your team to continue essential operations. This could be a co-working space, rented office, or a remote setup from employees’ homes. Ensure it’s equipped with basic necessities like internet access, power, and communication tools. 2. Conduct a Damage Assessment & Prioritize Repairs: Immediately assess the extent of the damage and create a list of repairs needed. Prioritize tasks based on what is essential for getting your office functional again, focusing first on critical infrastructure like electricity, water, and safety systems. 3. Set Up Cloud-Based Workflows: Transition your team’s operations to cloud-based platforms for file storage, communication, and project management. This step ensures that work continues seamlessly regardless of location and minimizes the impact of being without a physical office. 4. Engage a Rebuilding Team & Delegate Responsibilities: Hire professional contractors or a rebuilding team to handle repairs and construction. Internally, assign specific team members to oversee different aspects of the rebuilding process, such as coordinating with contractors, handling insurance claims, and managing communication with stakeholders. 5. Implement Regular Check-Ins & Progress Tracking: Establish a clear communication plan with your team and rebuilding partners. Schedule regular check-ins to review progress, address challenges, and make adjustments as needed. Keep everyone informed of timelines and milestones to ensure the rebuilding stays on track while maintaining business continuity. #hurricanhelene #ashville #marshall

The language in this article is overheated at times, but the overarching point remains valid. The push for remote workers to return to the office is not driven by issues like camraderie, productivity or creativity. It’s the result of the need to protect corporate real estate value. It’s time for corporations and local governments to find innovative ways to repurpose and reuse these office towers to address problems like affordable housing and downtown revitalization. #RTO #returntowork https://lnkd.in/guXrwPAS

Solution to Corporate Real Estate, Housing Crisis, and Ecological Concerns Situation: The Covid pandemic necessitated the implementation of many of the Business Continuity plans. These plans include remote work. Remote work not only became the order of the day, but it also benefitted companies in the form of unprecedented productivity gain. Other gains associated included a ‘healing’ period for our greenhouse gases as our emissions shifted from powering businesses to powering small home offices and commuting-related emissions. Many tiny home offices are utilized near the same loads as when those spaces stand idle, reducing our energy demand and carbon footprint. Likewise, it proved to be a boon for families as reduced commute time and increased schedule flexibility allowed for more direct engagement with the family. For the single people in the world, those who side more so on the Introverted end of the spectrum, these scheduling gains provided more time for self-care and focusing on wellness. The only drawbacks were the increased demand for housing as many opted to seek more space for their remote workspace and the small businesses that managed to remain open but still dependent on foot traffic. Additionally, the demand for corporate real estate plummeted. These variances between Domestic and Corporate real estate are presently seen as economic concerns and perhaps even warning signals to the shareholders. However, what these pressure points should represent is #opportunity. Instead of demanding people come into offices that reduce productivity and harm our environment to achieve those production reductions, we discuss rezoning those properties for a mix of residential, retail, and commercial office use. This is the opportunity to create #SmartCities. Responding to crisis often requires reconsidering how we do things going forward. #WeWork was never a bad idea; it was a mismanaged company. The concept behind it is valuable to all. Perhaps we listen to the market when it tells us the gains are not in traditionally expected areas and pivot towards meeting the demands of multiple markets while doing something ecologically responsible.
