To all my fellow sales professionals—here’s something I hear consistently from sales leaders, CEOs, and hiring managers: Rather than emphasizing how much pipeline you created (unless you're in a sales development role), focus on the impact you drove in terms of revenue. After all, it’s a sales job, not a pipeline job. It’s the difference between saying, “I grew the pipeline by 220%,” and stating, “I closed $832K on an $800K quota (104% achievement).” Put yourself in the hiring manager’s shoes. Highlighting revenue and quota attainment is far more compelling and demonstrates direct value. Update your resume and LinkedIn profile accordingly—it makes all the difference.
