Throughout the month of June, our employee resource group PRISM (Pride, Respect, Information, and Support for Many) organized engaging activities and circulated educational resources to celebrate #PrideMonth. We are grateful to PRISM for supporting members of the #LGBTQIA+ community and serving as a valued partner to all of us. #CountUsIn #Pride2024

I celebrated #IWD2024 this week together with my #eclteam learning about intersectionality, the complex, cumulative way in which the effects of multiple forms of discrimination (such as racism, sexism, and classism) combine, overlap, or intersect especially in the experiences of marginalized individuals or groups. I want to #inspireInclusion by continuing to learn to be more aware and through that foster diversity, equity and inclusion at Ecolab.

Last week, I had the privilege of watching my daughter navigate a moment of surprise with grace. She was unexpectedly announced as the "IT Captain" for her school Leadership council, a role she didn't even know existed. She had her hopes set on the School Captain or Vice Captain position. Despite her initial confusion and initial disappointment, she held her head high and showed poise beyond her years. As we talked about her new position, I couldn't help but reflect on the significance of her becoming the IT Captain. With the trend of low numbers of women in IT roles, my own 25+ career in IT , the legacy I left Woolies setting up the IT Gender Diversity Program, it's inspiring to see my daughter take on this leadership position. Additionally, as we learn to navigate neurodiversity in our family, I explained to my daughter how some ND kids prefer computers over face to face social interactions and she now has an opportunity, as IT Captain, to show leadership in a new way, for kids just like her little sister. As we talked through her concerns, my daughter began to see the positives. Not only does she get a place on the school council, but she also gets to serve as the IT Captain, essentially holding two roles. And with one of her best friends as a House Captain, she knows she will get pulled in to help out on sports days. She walked about reframing the situation, as how lucky she is that she's now got multiple ways she can show leadership in her final year at school. Oh and bonus, first assignment as IT Captain, she got an hour off class time. High fives all around. I'm proud of my daughter for embracing this unexpected opportunity and for the reminder that sometimes the best moments in life come from unexpected places. ..........And that sometimes, there is a plan in place that is greater than we could have possibly imaged. #iwd2024 #leadership #leadershipdevelopment #womeninit #womenintech #genderdiversity #neurodiversity #adhdawareness #adhdsupport #autism #womeninleadership

🌍✊ Let's Talk About Why #RacismIsBad 💔🚫 Hey everyone! ☀️ It's time to address something very important that affects us all: racism. 🤝 Today, let's have an open conversation about why racism is utterly unacceptable and needs to be fought against. Here are a few reasons why: Diversity is beautiful: Our world is a vibrant tapestry of cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds. Celebrating diversity enriches our lives, broadens our perspectives, and fosters growth. Let's embrace the beauty of our differences! 🧡 Equal rights for all: Every single human being deserves equal rights, regardless of their race or ethnicity. Discrimination based on someone's skin color is not only unjust; it hinders progress and perpetuates inequalities. Let's work towards a fair and inclusive society for everyone! 💔 Painful impact on individuals: Racism causes immeasurable harm to individuals who experience it firsthand. It can lead to emotional distress, self-doubt, and even physical violence. Our goal should be to create a world where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued. 🌍 Global unity: Racism divides us when we should be standing together as a united global community. By embracing inclusion and understanding, we have the power to build bridges, break down barriers, and create a more harmonious world for future generations. ✨ Education and empathy: We must educate ourselves and others about the historical context of racism, challenging our biases, and practicing empathy. Only through continuous learning and genuine understanding can we effectively eradicate racism from our hearts and society. 🌟 Together, we can make a difference: Fighting racism requires collective action. Let's actively speak out against it, support organizations promoting equality, and engage in conversations that challenge systemic discrimination. Each of us has the power to create positive change. ✊ Join me in raising awareness about why #RacismIsBad. Let's stand up against racism, promote unity, and create a brighter, more inclusive future. Together, we can make a difference! 🌍💙 #StopRacism #Equality #Inclusion #TogetherWeStand
