I don’t know if any of you enjoy NFL. Actually, its not the favorite sport regionally, but when you understand the rules, how is played and start to watch game is hard not becoming a fan. After watching for so many years you can have the most unlikely outcomes in each game, this is what I most enjoy about this sport. My post is not to talk about the league or an specific team, but a player. As know as the GOAT, Tom Brady’s career is something that we should always been inspired by. I have been inspired by other sports players, but since NFL is a team sport, we can have several parallels with our companies. I recommend you watching a short series named “the man in the arena”. It describes how Tom evolve to be without a doubt the greatest all of time in his role. The series makes we think the importance about teamwork, focus and determination. A sentence in the first chapter of this series was impressing in so many ways for me: “Talent and potential is useless without determination”. This absolutely true! How often we face colleagues that might have talent or a great potential or even both and a lack of determination? Sometimes attitude and determination are even more important than potential and talent. Because without determination those qualities are useless. Here’s a trailer from the series. Regionally plays sometimes in ESPN and it’s available on Star+ streaming. https://lnkd.in/decQmDUz

The surprising team-building lesson hidden in March Madness: Watching the Women's NCAA final between South Carolina and Iowa, two big takeaways really stood out to me. First off, Caitlin Clark is incredible. The kind of skill she showed (and shows) doesn’t just happen overnight. It’s all about putting in the work day in, day out, and really giving it everything you’ve got. It shows just how much heart and effort it takes to play at that level. But, the game also made it crystal clear that being a strong team is what really wins games. Watching South Carolina play was something else. Each player knew exactly what to do and did it perfectly. Their teamwork was amazing, and it didn’t give Iowa much chance to take the lead, after making those adjustments. A stat that really hit home was when they showed the bench points: South Carolina's bench racked up 37 points, but Iowa’s didn’t score any. That just goes to show how important every single player is to the team’s success. So, what’s the big lesson from this game? Teamwork makes the dream work. Sure, having standout stars like Caitlin Clark is awesome, but at the end of the day, it’s all about the team coming together that leads to winning. It’s a good reminder that whether it’s basketball or anything else in life, working together as a team is the best way to achieve great things.

Championship Team Traits: I watched Untold: Swamp Kings on Netflix this weekend while tackling some admin tasks - a doc on the University of Florida Gators football team during their dominating championship seasons in 2006 and 2008. Key takeaways from the documentary and from my own experience playing on a dominant championship football team: 1. Mindset: Winning is the norm and expected. Locker room celebrations are low-key. 2. Accountability: only excellence is accepted. Teammates hold each other to high standards and do not hesitate to call someone out when that standard isn't being met. 3. Focus: One game, one week at a time. No distractions, no parties. Review, prepare, and execute. 4. Work Ethic: Talent isn't enough. Off-season gym grind and 110% effort in practice turns good players into great players. Champions aren't born, they're made. How are you developing a championship team within your organization? #championmindset #teamexcellence #talent #winningmindset #leadership

Distilling complex problems into easily understood solutions. I'm the guy who gets things done while keeping my eye on the strategic vision and goals, all while bridging the worlds of technologists and decision makers.
There are so many great life lessons we can learn from sports, and the Detroit Lions represent one of those stories this football season. As a lifelong fan, I'm used to disappointment, but this weekend, Detroit is in the conference championship! Looking back three years ago when the Detroit Lions hired head coach Dan Campbell, his press conference about biting kneecaps made many in the sports media dismiss him as a meathead. But after last year's 9-8 season and the HBO series "Hard Knocks," we learned that Dan Campbell is not only tough and gritty, but he's also incredibly smart and cerebral. He has turned the team into an image of him. They have a clear identity. Watching Dan Campbell, I learned a great lesson that I have to relearn from time to time: first impressions are often wrong. We have to keep an open mind and give people time to show us who they really are. The front office of the Lions did their homework and found the right guy in Dan Campbell, along with an outstanding general manager in Brad Holmes. Together, they've built a culture of all grit, where everyone is buying in and embracing the mentality. This is not just about sports, but rather a fantastic case study in developing the right organizational culture. The Lions have shown that success comes from finding the right people, not necessarily the most talented ones. As an example, sports media personalities, questioned the Lions grabbing Jamyr Gibbs and Sam LaPorta in the first round of last year’s draft. They thought they were reaching. In the case of Gibbs, they didn’t even think he was the best running back. Fast forward to today, both of these guys are impact players. It is clear that the Lions have become a first rate organization. From ownership to the last player on the depth chart, everyone is in full alignment, and everyone in the organization is playing a role in this success. As a football fan, I'm excited for what's to come, and as a lifelong Lions fan, I'm proud to see the team succeed. Go Lions! #detroitlions #allgrit

CEO | Executive Recruiter *** 4,800+ Followers. I build teams for growth companies from emerging leaders to CxO ***
I want to recognize an incredible leader in honor of the post and video below! Robert Gerads ☁️, CEO of Fulton Analytics, is an incredible husband and father to 5 young boys. He coaches his kids and leads them to championships. He's an evangelist of Fulton's data capabilities. He worked hard to found Power BI Meetup in Minnesota and organizes events. Rob does all this while managing a dozen different aspects of business operations and CEO responsibilities (including business development, marketing, utilization targets, budgets, and a half a dozen other things). He does the best he can for Fulton's employees, and I know he loves them all. If you're an Executive in the data space, Fulton is building a true solutions-focused data analytics strategy and consulting company. They are an incredible partner, and they deliver. I highly suggest reaching out to Robert or Fulton Analytics if you have needs *now* or *later* in 2024. As an IT Director of a Minnesota-based manufacturer shared, "Fulton Analytics has been great to work with and I see a continued partnership where Fulton Analytics helps us architect the right foundation for our analytics strategy.” Rob is a man of faith and has become a good friend over the years. He once told me he values my mentorship, but it's quite the opposite. I only hope I can be as great of a leader and person as Rob someday. Cheers to you Rob! *** Pretty cool video at the bottom. *** Daron K. Roberts, J.D. 469 Keynotes | "Top 20 Speakers to Watch in 2024" | #1 LinkedIn Top Voice in Sports | Status Quo Combatant
THIS IS NOT ABOUT SPORTS.™ Let's go to the tape. 🎥 **** This is what leadership looks like. Leadership takes the time to notice... Rahshaun Haylock (⬅️ follow this man) graduated from California State University Northridge in 2005. For almost 20 years, he's been diving deep into his craft. Rahshaun has been a production assistant with the NFL Network, play-by-play voice for the Los Angeles Sparks, worked with Fox Sports West and has probably done a lot of odd jobs in the craft that has never reached the interwebs. Here, Russell does something that I find most leaders fail to do: He publicly congratulates. Look at the clip again. In the first three seconds, he makes a decision to divert the conversation away from the win against the Nets and chooses to turn the spotlight to Rahshaun. **** When I was coaching with the Lions, my head coach Jimmy Schwartz mentioned my work during one of our game prep weeks during a press conference. I can't remember who we were playing or exactly what he said, but I do remember feeling ecstatic that private work was receiving public recognition. **** Time is not found; it's made. Make the time to publicly acknowledge your people. Stay In The Deep End. #ThisIsNotAboutSports #LinkedInSports

MY PHILOSOPHY OF SPORTSMANSHIP Disclosure: I led a B team volleyball team in college. Nothing I ever played was televised…and I honestly don’t remember whether we won the season or not. Philosophy: even before I met/heard of/read Admiral Barry Black, US Senate Chaplain, I already had adopted a similar notion to be so good that they can’t help but hire or promote—or award me the point, set &/or match. While I don’t claim to enjoy losing, I ain’t [sic] gonna be a sore loser about a bad call or series of calls. If I can’t win, EVEN WITH BAD CALL(S) AGAINST ME OR MY TEAM, I haven’t, IMO, won with a convincing lead outside the margin of error. I don’t want to win on a technicality. I want to win because I, or my team, is/are undeniably, convincingly and demonstrably superior. Not condoning bad reffing, just saying I want my wins to be so convincing that I/we can absorb bad calls and STILL win. And if it makes it blantantly obvious that the ref(s) is(are) biased, so be it, but you’re just ain’t not going to find me petulantly whinging and groveling. It’s undignified…unsportsmanlike. I may have civilly disputed a call but I never argued with a ref. It goes against my principles! LoL In my book, style matters. HOW you play the game also matters. Oh, yes it does! McEnroe was not then, nor now, a positive role model. More of an example of what NOT to do. Obviously we (MeEnroe and me [sic]) have different philosophies and I don’t seek to have everyone subscribe to mine. I have long held this philosophy/strategy since the 1980s. CTA: is there anything I should consider to adapt/update/improve my operating philosophy of sportsmanship and the perspective from which I view others in the arena? (a la TR) https://lnkd.in/eq9ZvhWf (6:17) #McEnroe #sportsmanship ### [39 impressions before my completing. Apologies. Sometimes it hits the page perfectly and sometimes post needs tweaking, rewriting, correction, rereading, clarifying, ad nauseam!]

I help people and organization lead effectively so they can improve their profitability and productivity!
"Think you can, think you can't. Either way, you will be right!" - Henry Ford. What you think about, you will bring about. American former baseball player, Sam Ewing said, "Nothing is so embarrassing as watching someone do something that you said could not be done." People who embrace possibility thinking are capable of accomplishing tasks that seem impossible because they believe in solutions. Walt Disney was known for throwing ideas that were possible away and going for ideas that were impossible because if you embrace possibility thinking, your dreams will go from molehill to mountain size.
