WHAT IF I WROTE ABOUT ANY RANDOM THING PER DAY FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER? Day 7 of 30 Hello LinkedIn, Today, I will be writing on Cultural Training Cultural training, often known as on-the-job training (OJT), is the process of passing on important knowledge and practices from one generation or employee to the next. This concept depicts how traditions and habits are passed along, sometimes without investigation into their origins. The story of "The Special Sauce" is a fascinating example of cultural training. Emma, a young woman, is making her renowned family recipe for barbecue sauce in the family kitchen. Her husband, Mark, is watching with curiosity as Emma adds various items to the pot. She also contributes a modest, unexpected addition: a dash of pickle juice. Mark, fascinated by this strange ingredient, asks Emma, "Why do you put pickle juice in the sauce? It feels strange." Emma says, "It's just the way my grandmother prepared it. She always believed it imparted a distinct taste. Mark, fascinated about the custom, asks, "But why did Grandma use pickle juice?". Emma is unsure of the exact reason, so she decides to call her mother to get more details. Her mother explains that the use of pickle juice was a tradition passed down from her mother, Emma’s grandmother. However, her mother doesn’t know the origin of the tradition either, only that it was Grandma’s way of making the sauce special. Determined to find out what's going on, Emma contacts her grandmother's old acquaintance, who still lives in the region. Following some talk, her grandmother's companion discloses the original motive for the pickle juice: When Grandma ran out of vinegar, she added pickle juice to the sauce to give it a tangy bite. It became a treasured component of the recipe, and Grandma continued to use it even when vinegar became widely accessible again. This story shows how traditions may grow from practical answers to treasured rituals. It highlights the significance of understanding the roots of certain practices and how they are adopted over time. Understanding the practical reasons for a tradition can lead to a stronger relationship with it and even inspire new ways to improve it. Note: This is an adaptation of Grandma's ham. e. What challenges/issues did you face while learning? How did you resolve it? The challenges faced during this module (Restaurant Service Operation) is communication, I wasn't really that close to the class and didn't really talk to them much, but what i did to change and resolve it is to force myself to talk to them and find ways to make communication easier for me and other people. Like probably plan what work to split the work.

2 weeks, 4 new baristas to train. A challenging yet rewarding experience. A few things I have learnt over this period 👇 Challenges Time Constraints The most significant challenge is the limited time frame. Two weeks is a short period to cover coffee knowledge, technical skills, customer service, and operational procedures. Working within a well organised plan helps. Individual Learning Paces Each trainee has a unique learning style and pace. Some may grasp the concepts quickly, while others might need more time and repetition. Balancing the needs of all four baristas without slowing down the overall progress is key. Maintaining Quality and Consistency Ensuring that all trainees achieve a high standard of quality and consistency in their coffee-making skills. This involves repeated practice, detailed feedback, and coaching where required. Rewards Building a Strong Team Successfully training a group of baristas fosters a sense of camaraderie and teamwork. The shared experience of learning and growing together helps in building a cohesive and supportive team, which is essential for a positive working environment. Personal Satisfaction Watching the trainees progress from new to confident baristas is rewarding. Their growth reflects the effectiveness of the training offered and the effort put into training them. The rewards far outweigh any challenges. The satisfaction of seeing a well-prepared team, the improvement in service quality, and the positive impact on the operations of the business make it worthwhile. With careful planning, dedication, and a supportive approach, the training period can be transformed into a highly productive and fulfilling experience for both the trainer and the trainees. #maestro #barista #coffee #coffeeshop #training

Lecturer of School of General Studies (MPU) at Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU / APIIT)
While teaching and learning, engagement is very important between students and lecturers. These days, we cannot have chalk and talk classes. We have to change a bit (maybe a lot). Now, many use online tools, but, do not forget, we can always go back to our traditional method, to engage with our students. Oh yes, 'force' then to write, is one way of engagement. They laugh, because they only bring tab/laptop/handohone with them, but not paper or pen. 😂 So, nit only need to engage with lecturer, theybhave to communicate with their friends, asking for papers/pen 😂🤪 Now, teaching MPU modules is not tough. The tough thing is, to make them value, "why do they have to take MPU modules". That is my biggest concern as a lecturer. Are they aware of their Lesson Outcomes and Learning Objectives? p/s: interesting feedback i read from my students when i asked them to write down ONE FAVOURITE FOOD. the Japanese wrote; Maggi Goreng, Pan Mee and even Nasi Lemak. none of them stated sushi. BUT, other students from Malaysia, Indonesia etc, wrote, their favourite food is SUSHI! haha. welcome to my module, Employee and Employment Trends, at APU 😀

Inspiring Growth: Passionate about Leadership & Personal Development for Individuals, Teams & Organizations 🌟
Embracing The Timeless Tradition of Craft Sharpening In today's fast-paced world, where instant gratification and quick fixes reign supreme, there's a timeless wisdom to be found in the olden practice of sharpening one's craft. The journey of mastery, characterized by apprenticeships, rigorous training, and the slow accumulation of skills passed down through generations, offers invaluable lessons for modern practitioners. At the heart of this traditional approach lies a profound respect for the process of mastery. Unlike the hurried pace of modern competency building, which often prioritizes speed and efficiency, the path of craft sharpening demands patience and perseverance. It teaches us that true mastery cannot be rushed; it requires dedication, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Take, for example, the legendary sushi chef Jiro Ono, whose life and work are immortalized in the documentary "Jiro Dreams of Sushi." Through decades of relentless pursuit, Jiro honed his craft to perfection, becoming a true master of his art. Yet, despite his unparalleled skill and expertise, Jiro remained a humble learner, always seeking to improve and refine his techniques. In today's world, where the allure of shortcuts and quick fixes can be tempting, there is a pressing need for modern practitioners to embrace the attitudes embodied by Jiro and other masters of their craft. We must recognize the value of hard work, dedication, and staying true to the craft, even in the face of adversity. Moreover, we must cultivate a mindset of lifelong learning, understanding that mastery is not a destination but a continuous journey. Just as Jiro approached sushi-making with a sense of humility and openness to learning, so too must we approach our own endeavors with a similar mindset. From craft sharpening, we see a few valuable attitudes that are perhaps lacking in today's world: 1. Patience & Persistence: Embracing that mastery takes time & dedication can lead to more fulfilling long-term results. 2. Attention to Detail: Focusing on the intricacies of a skill or craft can lead to a deeper understanding and appreciation of the work being done. 3. Respect for Tradition: Learning from the wisdom & experience of those who came before us can provide valuable insights & guidance. 4. Mentorship & Community: Building relationships with mentors & fellow practitioners can offer support, guidance & a sense of belonging. Integrating these attitudes into modern competency building, we can strive for a more holistic approach that combines the best of both worlds. Not withstanding, honoring the legacy of craftsmanship & ensure its preservation for generations to come.
